mass update jin_(eros) -> jin_(cobalt_snow)
mass update tyler_(fatalfox) -> tyler_(cobalt_snow)

Did these characters change owner? Or are Eros and Fatalfox previous names of Cobalt Snow?

The bulk update request #3055 is pending approval.

mass update ida -> ida_(cobalt_snow)
mass update jin_(eros) -> jin_(cobalt_snow)
mass update tyler_(fatalfox) -> tyler_(cobalt_snow)
mass update alex_(cobaltsnow) -> alex_(cobalt_snow)

Reason: Updates to Cobalt Snow's older character tags for improved specificity and wildcard-friendlyness.

I feel like those should be aliases rather than mass updates. but also, a like half of the stuff tagged ida are not posts with the character that CobaltSnow made, they're other characters with the same name, moving those to ida_(cobalt_snow) should be done manually. and that tag should get disambiguated.

Eros is a webcomic that ColbaltSnow makes/used to make (hasn't had an update since mid-2020 ).
Fatalfox is an old username, currently aliased to cobalt_snow

Ah shit, how did I miss that? I even did as much for their other Eros characters.

Is there a reason to use aliases over updates? I get they function the same in this context, but otherwise I think it makes more sense for the displayed tags to reflect the correct information.

Aliases make it so that if anyone attempts to use the old tags in the future, they will get automatically changed to the new tags. In general I don't think aliases are as necessary for tags like character name suffix conventions, where anybody who cares enough about the characters to tag them will either already know about or search for the correct tags anyway, plus there's the small risk of another creator coming along in the future with a legitimate claim to that suffix. It's not comparable to synonyms in the English language which are the usual purpose of aliases.

That said, ida probably should be disambiguated.

I see. I think jin_(eros) should stay as it is then since it's a character related to that comic and not a personal character. Like how we tag zen_(twokinds) and not zen_(tom_fischbach).

I'm inclined to agree. while it's not totally consistent (from memory the only primarily/exclusively webcomic characters that are tagged as *_(<creator>) that I'm aware of are the ones from Dragon's Burn but there's probably more), it's probably better to point to the origin series before pointing to the creator.
