Topic: [Bug] Search failure, tag "pokémon"

Posted under Site Bug Reports & Feature Requests

When I searched the tag "Pokémon" earlier today it was fine; but, now recently, it failed to find all the relevant images. it's showing stuff that's over month old in the first 60 images; escalating towards 8 years within a several pages. The bug isn't going away after multiple attempts, and seems to only affect the tag in question.

for example this image can be found thru tag "plundered", but not thru tag "pokémon"; despite having both.

update [8/23/22 5:39 PM (PT)]: it would seem the query is currently rebuilding itself; as a given page (300) is changing what files are shown, rapidly, showing more recent entries as time passes.

Updated

The accent is being removed from the pokemon tags, so until the aliases are done processing, it's going to be a bit of a mess. It will resolve itself as the alias processes. Sorry for the inconvenience this causes while that takes place.

The pokemon_(species) tag took over a day to process, and the pokemon tag will likely take about the same amount of time.

As of right now it has been running for about 5 hours. There will most likely be some additional cleanup actions that need to take place after it is done processing, to clean up other aliases and implications that are either circular, or point at the wrong tags still.

I had a feeling something like that was what happened. it was weird how it was only random images unaffected by this, and only this one tag. but yeah, it makes sense if the tag is being replaced.

This problem seems to go both ways, I have "pokémon" tagged images showing up through my blacklist, even though I have both versions of the word blacklisted

Unfortunately the way the blacklist saving works prevents you from adding the pokemon tag with the accent, because it is aliased to the non-accented version. Until it is done they will show up. Sorry.

It's really rare that aliases ever run for more than about 15 minutes, so this doesn't come up much.

In the meantime you can blacklist nintendo, potentially with exclusions for other franchises found in the nintendo page. It'll either work too strongly or not strongly enough depending, but it's an option.
