Topic: What should i do if this happens in real life?

Posted under General

Tonight i dreamt i was on this site and an administrator recently approved a floor plan and some low artistic quality drawings of her fursona, and the comments and tags on those posts were locked, there were also some tags that should not be there.

What should i do if an administrator does this in real life?

Okay. But what about the low quality drawings, tag vandalism, and locking the tags and comments for no reason?

I imagine NotMeNotYou would have some rather strong words for that admin. German is much better than English for some good, old anschnauzen, after all. I don't think a rogue admin would get too far out of hand without being dealt with. The admin team appears to have a low tolerance for such shenanigans amongst their own. For this rogue admin to be successful, they'd require the silent collusion of the rest of the administration team, and I don't see that as happening any time soon.

I'd suppose that you would report the posts as you might any other post, or if you feel too unsafe, probably Dmail NotMeNotYou about it. Unless it was akin to that one Mellis-era post which deliberately trolled users by basically daring them to report it, whereupon they'd get perma-banned, in which case I'd expect the anschnauzen towards the rogue admin to be... spectacular.

Ok so I approved that back when I was admin. The reason I approved it was because it was closely related to the camp pines pool.
I should make it clear that I am no longer admin and do not speak for e621, but it was in my opinion at that time that stuff that is closely related to a series of images(eg: a comic that features a panel without any characters present or otherwise part of story telling that is relevant to the site), that it should be approved.
If it was a random floor plan of some random cottage that had no relevance to any existing series of images, I would not have approved it.

Nims would not tolerate that. Report the admin(admins are not allowed to handle reports towards themselves), send nimmy a dmail, or email [email protected].
I guarantee you that they would be reprimanded.

Dare I ask, or would that be considered meta-violation? :P Meta-banned! Can't talk about recursive analysis of analysis anymore, either, ever since the noodle incident.

You're lucky to be participating in a community that goes out of it's way to punish manipulation, gaslighting, and other such 'dark heart' behavior, BTW. Most places eventually fail to resist becoming a magnet to power-seekers and other abusers. I actually wonder if the creepy comment rule (renamed/changed recently) and others had something to do with it. Acting as a filter for bad behavior. Following the "I can't be an angel" logic in previous post, mal-seekers would be discouraged from doing anything once they got that far. I think in security circles, they call something like that "trustless" or "I don't even (want to need to) trust me" systems?

Leave the site.

LOL, the cynically correct answer. "Just burn it all down and start over." Freenode IRC comes to mind, recently.

A random meander through my forum mentions netted me bitWolfy's post on lobsterbans. This was the post I was referring to but couldn't quite remember. Apparently, it wasn't a perma-banning after all, but a 10,000 day ban, although as set up, it was still the pre-Bad Dragon administration basically trolling their users. The post is grandfathered in, but considering the temperaments of today's admins, I don't think you'd be banned for flagging the post, but you might be given a Neutral record. Save NotMeNotYou's anschnauzen for those who deserve it. :o

In a sense, e621 has already been in situations similar to what electricitywolf describes (although not the floor plan one; Chaser was justified there). So there is a vested interest among today's admins to prevent any of them going rogue.

Unrelated to the topic, shouldn't you be marked as "Former Staff" instead of just "Member"?
