Topic: Nose horn vs. nose spike

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

There is something I’ve been meaning to ask you all with regards to two tags.
e621 happens to have a nose_horn tag and a nose_spike tag. At first I believed that the latter meant a smaller ‘horn’, though now I’m not certain if that’s the case.

Is the difference between nose_horn and nose_spike really that significant to be considered as individual tags?

As much as I would like for them to be separate tags, functionally they are mostly being used to describe the same thing.
Ideally I would like to see a separation based on how we differentiate between spikes_(anatomy) and horn, with the former being smaller/thinner and the latter being larger/thicker.

I think post #2275805 would be a good example of nose_horn, just like a rhino's.

I was thinking exactly the same thing before. Judging by how horn and spikes_(anatomy) are described, I was under the impression that a nose_horn is larger/thicker and a nose_spike is smaller/thinner.

If that’s the case, than a majority of posts with (either one of) these two tags are currently mistagged. This may be because the nose_horn wiki page doesn’t provide a clear enough description and the nose_spike wiki page doesn’t exist yet.
