Topic: Redefining ‘flirting’

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

A few days ago, I created a new wiki page for the flirting tag, however after seeing topic #36744, I feel like we should (re)establish the definition of flirting as well as discuss a possible implication to the seductive tag.

At first, I defined flirting as follows (currently on the wiki page):

”The action of playfully showing romantic or sexual interest in someone. Flirting can come in various forms, whether in spoken or written communication, as well as body language. These may include prolonged eyecontact, suggestive compliments or remarks, teasing, and various other means.”

As it is currently defined, flirting seems similar to seductive, which describes ”A character posing, talking, or behaving in a way that is intended to (sexually) tempt or attract someone.”

I was wondering if we could redefine flirting to something a bit more specific. My idea was to use the tag to suggest a form of seduction through dialogue (voiced or written).

Posts that could qualify as flirting (dialogue):

Posts that just qualify as seductive (no dialogue):

What are your opinions and/or ideas on this?

Updated

Alright, the flirting wiki has been edited (a few days ago). It now reads the following:

Playfully showing romantic or sexual interest in someone through spoken/voiced or written communication. These may include teasing, suggestive compliments or remarks, pick up lines, and various other means.

For tagging purposes, flirtatious body language (such as bedroom_eyes) does NOT count as flirting. In that case, just use seductive.

If anything needs to be adjusted, let me know or feel free to edit the wiki.

Right now there are a lot of posts where the flirting tag doesn’t apply anymore.
Can anyone help with this tagging project? (flirting -dialogue)
