Wondering what to do with mataki* tags.
(Mainly what artist tag to use for art by FA/mataki23.)

mataki tag a mix of:
1) art by artist with FA username mataki23
2) a character of https://www.furaffinity.net/user/mataki (edit: wolf character apparently named Mataki)

Plus FA/mataki23 has a character named Mataki.

and apparently it has been character tag since the beginning (of the tag).

I noticed artwork post #2816404 had no artist tag, and 3 character tags (but only 2 characters in image).
History of that post (2816404):
1) uploaded by user Mataki https://e621.net/users/701330 (back in 2021 July)
with character tag mataki
2) I changed tag from mataki (character tag) to mataki23 (artist tag)
(because artist's FA is https://www.furaffinity.net/user/mataki23/ and mataki23 is existing artist tag.)

One other post (post #2606153 ) had mataki tag removed. Tag history of this post:
1) 2021 February: uploaded with character tag mataki (uploaded by someone who is presumably not the artist)
2) 2021 November: mataki tag replaced with unknown_artist tag (probably because the only source in source field at the time now deleted from FA)
3) 2021 December: unknown_artist tag replaced with mataki23 tag.

1) oldest upload has "karomataki" on it

Looks like DA karomataki moved to FA mataki23, but let's get back to that LATER.

I assume they went with mataki23 username because plain mataki username was already taken.

There's no need to make this unnecessarily complicated. Just use mataki23 for the artist, and mataki for the character (unless there are any other Matakis on here).
