There is one artist that has a pair of characters with simple names like "color animal", I found that he did name these characters in a obscure upload in one of their galleries.

So I should do a thread with that type of request linking that post as a source or there is a better/correct way? Maybe its obvious but don't want to make mods/admin having to read some useless thread lol.

If it is just that one or two posts tagged with the unofficial name, then you can just simply edit the posts to add in the correct name (i.e., character:correct_name). Remember to remove the unofficial name, of course.

If there are numerous posts under that unofficial name (whereby editing each one may be tedious), then you can request a BUR to have them all moved to the new name at once.
Bear in mind that we don't alias generic names to character tags, so a mass update would be more appropriate.
E.g., alias red_dog -> clifford would not be appropriate, so use update red_dog -> clifford instead.
