Topic: Various Hypno-Related Tags

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

Below are some of my thoughts on hypno/mind control related tags because these are the tags I spend the most time in.

1. Eyes

First of all, ringed_eyes often gets mistagged as spiral_eyes, but this is a pretty miniscule problem in the scheme of things, and I don't see an easy fix for this.

Secondly, I've noticed a more widespread use of hypnotic_eyes, but the tag isn't defined. It obviously covers ringed/spiral/glowing eyes in the context of hypnosis.
But what about eyes that are hypnotizing someone but there's no visual indicator (i.e. no rings, spirals, glow, etc.)? But what about ringed eyes in the context of substance intoxication, mind break, or if the reason for the ringed eyes is ambiguous?

If hypnotic_eyes is to be codified, it should probably be on almost all of the posts in ~ringed_eyes ~spiral_eyes ~glowing_eyes hypnosis . Currently it's only on >7%

2. Hypno_* vs Hypnotic_*

There's several tags that use the prefix "hypno_" instead of "hypnotic_".
Imho, "hypnotic_" is more descriptive/explicit than "hypno_" and has been codified by hypnotic_visor, so "hypnotic_" is the preferable prefix.

hypno_eyes and hypno_goggles are currently the 2 biggest "hypno_" tags.

3. Hypnotic methods/items

There's several tags referring to physical objects/substances that are designed for hypnotizing someone, e.g., hypnotic_visor, hypno_gas, hypnotic_clothing, hypnotic_screen.
The tag hypnotic_device might be useful in tying all these together, though I wonder if a pendulum or stopwatch could also be considered a hypnotic_device. Perhaps "hypnotic_tech" would be better for specifying sci-fi hypnotic devices?

There's quite a few diminutive hypno-related tags for just about anything used in a hypno context. For example, the following all describe various hypnotic head/eyewear: hypno_goggles, hypnotic_visor, hypnotic_mask, hypnotic_helmet.
I'm not sure if it's worth trying to wrangle all these specific tags into more general tags (e.g., "hypnotic_eyewear" and "hypnotic_headwear"), or just letting them be.

4. General tags

I've seen zonked tagged more recently. I think it basically means when a character looks "out of it" or is semi-unconscious, usually in the context of hypno/MC but not necessarily?
We should nail down the definition of zonked, alias it to mind_control, or alias it to "zonked_(ambiguous)".

hypnosis_sex seems kinda superfluous when you could just use hypnosis and sex together (presuming people tag sex consistently).

hypnotherapist could be collapsed into hypnotherapy.
