Topic: [REJECTED] Rename partially_inside to prey_partially_inside

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

The bulk update request #4290 has been rejected.

mass update partially_inside -> prey_partially_inside

Reason: The current use of "partially_inside" is only for vore content where a prey is partially inside a pred.
It is not clear enough with this name. "prey_partially_inside" is clearer : understand that it is a prey partially inside and not something else (so not like a penis partially inside a pussy).
It is not an alias request because the tag "partially_inside" may have some other use after that transition. So we will just move the content.
Aliasing or moving the content has been discussed multiple times :

If the content is moved, what needs to be done is :
- cancelling this tag implication request : https://e621.net/forum_topics/36784
- Edit wiki description of partially_inside to talk about the move of content (and maybe if someone want that it is open for other use).
- Move reference from "partially_inside" to "prey_partially_inside" in : vore (in scenarios), partial vore, prey fully inside and almost fully inside .

I can do this myself (after the move). But it is useful to write it to remember to do it (for when I will go back on it).

It's going to be used for birthing too. If you want birthed characters to be referred to as prey, then sure this makes sense.

This will harm searchability if the term isn't combined as one. I'm not supporting a change for frivolous purposes that harms searching. Renaming the tag (through alias, or implication) is the only alternative I would possibly agree with, and this doesn't do that. It changes the concept to a term that is harder to use, and is the third attempt to change this after the previous two attempts failed to gain any traction.

We want to make tags easy to use and search for. Adding unnecessary prefixes (without an alias or implication) will mean that less people will find it, and less people will want to use the tag.

I will also mention that this is not great if we wish to future proof this concept. Expansion of this concept into more specialized subtags would involve four words instead of three if we insist that we have to slap prey in front of everything, on top of the whole, assuming everything is prey concept. Use a concept neutral term like body instead if you want to go down this route. body_partially_inside would still be overly descriptive, but wouldn't have the baggage that comes with using the term prey.

My suggestion, and probably the best way to make it less vague is to rename it to partially_inside_body. That would be my recommendation. It is a more versatile term, and in fact the format was chosen for that purpose. The suffix is intended to be swapped out with any noun we wish to use in the future, and exclusively be known as always referring to character bodies and not other things. The vagueness should be mitigated by common intuition.

Personally, I'm not a fan of the partially inside/almost fully inside/fully inside tags, their names are extremely vague and aren't as specific as they could be in regards to how exactly the predator and prey are interacting, they seem too broad.

I've been slowly creating tags that specify where the prey is, which are named to be clearer

For characters that are partially inside of an orifice

For characters fully inside

The only "stage" which I'm not entirely sure how to describe succinctly in another way, is content that falls under almost fully inside — such as a character in oral vore whose feet or tail are sticking out of the pred's mouth, or anal vore, where the prey's face entirely framed by the pred's anus. So almost fully inside is probably the most useful, at least in my opinion.

I'm not sure if clunky, vaguely named tags (no offence to the creators or taggers using it) that ultimately apply to an extremely broad range of content within vore is the way to go, but at least they make adding more specific tags easier.
