Topic: [REJECTED] Tag alias: alice_(disney) -> alice_(alice_in_wonderland)

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

The tag alias #61934 alice_(disney) -> alice_(alice_in_wonderland) has been rejected.

Reason: Alice (Disney) is the same character as Alice_(Alice in Wonderland), with the latter already implicating the Alice in Wonderland tag.

It's also redundant since Disney's film is called "Alice in Wonderland". Both apply regardless.

EDIT: The tag alias alice_(disney) -> alice_(alice_in_wonderland) (forum #362282) has been rejected by @forestwander.

I disagree. Alice (Disney) is for Disney's specific iteration of the character in the animated movie. There are other Alices on the site who aren't the Disney character nor reference her.

Different iteration doesn't mean it's a different character entirely, you have copyrights to discern the difference, not character tags. If every specific iteration of a franchise was considered a different character, then popular series like Sonic would have a ton of different ones.

Ultimately Disney's Alice is just another version but not a different character. The difference is the copyright they're from, not the character.

Sonic's a bad example though since every iteration of its characters are owned by Sega. With Alice there's, for example, the literary character, the Disney iteration and Alice Liddell from the American McGee's Alice game series. Those aren't just different copyrights, they're different companies.

Actually, Sonic isn't that bad an example either. We've got plenty of different Sonic iterations even though it's the same copyright holder - classic_sonic, dark_sonic sonic_the_werehog, super_sonic, zonic_the_zone_cop and etc.

If we can have those, it definitely makes sense to have different Alices.
