Topic: Tag alias: lizardfolk -> lizardman

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

The tag alias #62114 lizardfolk -> lizardman has been approved.

Reason: lizardwoman and lizardgirl already are aliased to lizardfolk, showing that lizardfolk is a genericised tag and not a reference to D&D-specific species

Likewise, lizardfolk has no wiki page while lizardman does, would be good to combine these spread out tags.

If it's just a genericised tag for lizard people, what makes it any different from a lizard anthro? Seems like they should be aliased away.

A lot of fantasy franchises like to call their lizard anthros "lizardmen" to seem ✨fantastical✨, but for tagging purposes we can use the more specific tags (e.g. lizardman_(overlord) or lizardman_(warhammer_fantasy)). I'd be fine with aliasing or at least disambiguating this tag.

I think lizardman could implicate lizard_humanoid, but I don't think both should be aliased away, as per the wiki page it has a particular focus on those in fantasy and sci-fi settings typically with a hunched and primitive physique.

While lizardman and lizardfolk are both genericised terms for the same thing, they are still distinct from lizard_humanoid which encumpases much futher to the humanoid aspect - (breasts, upright posture, basically lizard aspects on human bodies)
