Reason: A lot of these have been used very frequently, ie. https://e621.net/post_versions?commit=Search&search%5Bexclude_uploads%5D=0&search%5Btags_removed%5D=furryart
and they're all obviously as invalid as furry, if not more so.
Opting to alias to invalid_tag rather than move to invalid category simply because there is no valid replacement for these tags.

Furry_apparel is invalid instead of clothing because most of the pieces it was tagged on don't have clothing in the image, the artist is referring to their shop.

Also I can offer some insight about why these tags get used here and on other furry-specific sites. There's a tool called postybirb that a lot of artists use to post to a bunch of different sites at once, and it sometimes causes this tag weirdness.

Ah, dag. I was about to suggest aliasing that to furgonomics

Uh wait... I just remembered furry isn't aliased to invalid_tag, it's in the invalid category. Should all these be aliased to furry instead?

Not for aliases that have a valid tag target (e.g. furry_anthro -> anthro and furry_female -> female). Better to alias to a valid tag whenever possible than an invalid one that needs someone to look at it. And not for tags that are invalid on their face (e.g. furrycommunity -> invalid_tag and anthro_artist -> invalid_tag), since there's no ambiguity with them and they should just be deleted. Only ones that could reasonably be inferred as indicating something visibly "furry" about the image (e.g. cute_furries or furry_drawing might be indicating there's an anthro/feral/furry character in the image that could be checked).

Yeah, those are the ones I meant. I'll alias them to furry real quick. Scaliespe, you might want to change some of your aliases to furry as well.

(Apologies for the late reply)

I don’t actually think most of these should be aliased to furry. Here’s why.

The main reason why furry (and most invalid category tags) are in the invalid category rather than aliased to invalid_tag is because there is presumably a valid replacement for the tag. That way, you can see the invalid tag and try to figure out what valid tag should be used instead. The two biggest reasons for this are either due to the ambiguity of the tag or because it’s likely a typo. In either case, the tag exists because there is something to diagnose and fix. In the case of furry, it’s both. Someone could be trying to say that the character is an anthro, or that the character has a lot of fur. It could be a typo of a valid tag like furry-specific_piercing, using a space instead of the hyphen, or of a common alias like furry_dragon (aliased to furred_dragon). There are a lot of possibilities with that one.

Most of these, however, are much more clear in their meaning. Something like “furry_art” or “furry_commission” or any other permutation of that is clearly not a typo, so that possibility can be disqualified. It’s probably not describing the body type of the character or whether or not they have fur either. I see these phrases used for scalies and other non-furred things all the time. All that it means is “artwork that is part of the furry fandom.” That’s it. The meaning is unambiguous. And, well… that basically applies to all the artwork on the site in some way or another. Even a majority of the not_furry artwork here was at least made by furry artists, or has some tangential connection to the fandom. If you scroll through results for “furry art” on a site such as DeviantArt, you will run into things that are not distinctly furry in any way, and may not even be allowed to be posted here.

So with that said, I’d still keep most of those aliased to invalid_tag. Things like furry- can stay, as that’s clearly a typo, but things like furry_commission are pointless. Not to mention that commission itself is aliased to invalid_tag.

The problem with aliasing too many of these other tags to furry is that the furry tag still needs to be diagnosed whenever it comes up. Someone has to look at the picture and say, “okay, were they trying to tag fur? Is this a typo of furry-specific_piercing?” But something like furry_artwork and furry_commission are not going to be that. They literally just mean “I’m a furry and I drew/commissioned this” or something similar. Nothing to diagnose or fix. Just has to be removed. Aliasing them to furry is going to put more results into the furry tag, most of which likely don’t have any valid replacement for the original tag.

cute_furries might be okay to keep, though - maybe they meant “cute anthros” or something. Perhaps furry_character as well. That may still not be that useful to have under furry… I still feel like that’s creating unnecessary work for the people who have to clean up furry, but I’ll leave that up to you. I’d definitely use invalid_tag for furry_commission and furry_drawing, though.
