Topic: [REJECTED] Tag implication: asriel_dreemurr_(god_form) -> asriel_dreemurr

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

nuclear take:
asriel_dreemurr as an umbrella tag
asriel_dreemurr_(standard_form) or regular_form, normal_form, something else, whatever, which implies asriel_dreemurr
asriel_dreemurr_(god_form) which also implies asriel_dreemurr

I totally understand the purpose of the current setup, but it gets constantly mistagged because it confuses people. I think a setup like this would be the best of both worlds.

I think it's unnecessary given the character technically only has these two forms.

I agree that maybe you could rename asriel_dreemurr as asriel_dreemur_(original_form) but it's not that needed...

Check out asriel_dreemurr (the tag meant to be for his regular form) and see how many images are of his god form. I counted 40 on the first page. I believe it is necessary due to the constant mistags, it would just make everyone's life easier and I don't see how it could be a bad thing. It really seems like a win-win to me.

Try dealing with the bad taggers first instead of taking the nuclear option. The issue the OP has isn't that there's a missing tag, it's that they don't know how to use alternators or wildcards, and these are both things that remain useful even when you're not searching for Asriel art.

Why are you always so hellbent on making searching certain tags harder? This is fine as is, contrary to some tags more popular than it.

How would my suggestion make searching harder?
You want just normal asriel: asriel_dreemurr_(standard_form)
You want just god form asriel: asriel_dreemurr_(god_form)
You want both together: asriel_dreemurr_(god form) asriel_dreemurr_(standard_form)
You want either one, same as what would currently be a wildcard search: asriel_dreemurr

re: Lafcadio:
Fair enough I guess. I just figured dealing with the bad taggers is going to be a never-ending battle, so a permanent solution that retains all the same search capability while heavily cutting down the mistags seems much easier.

This is perfectly unnecessary and time-consuming for a tag that doesn't need it. First, somebody would have to update all the posts from asriel_dreemurr to asriel_dreemurr_(standard_form). Second, forms do tend to not be tagged when they should in the first place. Go to any tag related to a Pokemon with multiple forms, I'd bet the forms aren't tagged and only the Pokemon or "main form" gets tagged. How many alolan vulpixes were simply tagged vulpix before being corrected?

Also, this is not a normal way to deal with a tag anyway. Tags shouldn't implicate other forms nor being implicated from other forms becaus it simply encourages laziness in tagging. If you were smart about it, you would have suggested to alias it to asriel_dreemurr_(disambiguation).

The update would consist of:
update asriel_dreemurr -> asriel_dreemurr_(standard_form)
Then manually removing that tag and replacing with god_form where applicable, which is identical to what would currently need to happen to clean out the tag. Same amount of work either way. And I volunteer to do this! I enjoy tag projects like this. I go through tags like shaymin to add forms from time to time, for fun. I'll work on cleaning the asriel_dreemurr tag next.
Regarding pokemon regional forms, I think this solution could actually work for them too. Instead of vulpix and alolan_vulpix, we could have kantonian_vulpix and alolan_vulpix and they'd both imply vulpix. Bulbapedia refers to the main form of a pokemon with regional forms by its original region) (ctrl-F for "kantonian"). But clearly this is an incredibly controversial take, lol.
"Tags shouldn't implicate other forms because it encourages laziness in tagging" uh, what?? Sorry, I don't get this. We have plenty of umbrella tags for things already, does penile_penetration encourage laziness in tagging because people might skip out on penis_in_pussy or penis_in_ass?

I didn't expect this idea to be so controversial to be honest! I was just brainstorming. We don't have to do it, and I'll drop it now.
