Topic: [REJECTED] Tag alias: fanfic_art -> story_at_source

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

The tag alias #62354 fanfic_art -> story_at_source has been rejected.

Reason: Now, I'm not positive on this one... but my thoughts:
Fanfic art means art made to accompany a fanfiction, right? So there would always be a story in the source?
I could be wrong - perhaps it should just be invalidated instead.

EDIT: The tag alias fanfic_art -> story_at_source (forum #365901) has been rejected by @Cloudpie.

it seems like some of them are the little thumbnail image that goes with a story on IB or something and actually do link to a story at the source, but the tag seems like it's also applied to a few post that have story_in_description, some that are fanart for fanfics that already exist, some are fanfic comics, and some are none of the above.

Or it's art of a fanfic (theirs or someone else's), where the story is somewhere else like AO3 or the description here instead of the source, if there is even a source. Or it's art that is a fanfic itself (e.g. a non-canon fan comic). I don't think it's safe to assume there will be a story at the source.

For all those reasons, I’m voting -1 instead of neutral. The fact that the actual fanfic or story can end up in different places (may it be in the source, description, on the artwork itself, or none of the above) makes this alias seem invalid.

Updated

I've seen fanart specific to a Spacebattles/etc. story, but yeah, isn't it almost always linked to from the story itself in the thread comments or story itself?

I'm thinking the tag should be aliased to invalid_tag instead then? Do you guys agree?

I can't think of anything else that would be suitable, so that makes the most sense to me.
