create alias britain (10) -> united_kingdom (92)

Reason: While "Great Britain" or just "Britain" technically refers to just the island of Great Britain, it can be (erroneously) used to refer to the entire country of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Plus, we really don't need to split hairs and separately tag an island that is synonymous with one country, especially since none of the six posts currently under the great_britain tag actually show the island or even an outline of it (just characters and elements relating to the UK), and just two posts tagged britain only depicted the land from the island itself, not the whole thing.

Makes enough sense to me. All the current usages are synonymous with united_kingdom at the moment, showing British flags or the like.

Even if it were being used to refer to the island itself, that would be about as useful as having a tag like contiguous_united_states.

Would be better the other way around. The United Kingdoms comprise Great Britain, Scotland and Ireland.
Each "kingdom" has a different flag unique to them. Great Britain is the union jack I think, Scotland it's a yellow cross on a blue background and Ireland it's also a cross, but red on a white background if i recall correctly.

The United Kingdom comprises of Great Britain (which in itself comprises of England, Scotland and Wales) and Northern Ireland. Being part of the United Kingdom, it would make no sense the other way around.

Scotland's flag is a white cross (technically a saltire) on a blue background, England's flag is a red cross on a white background and Northern Ireland's (unofficial) flag is a red saltire on a white background. Elements of all 3 are incorporated into the flag of the United Kingdom (also known as the Union Jack, Union Flag, etc.). The flag of Great Britain stopped existing in 1801 when Ireland became part of the United Kingdom.
