Topic: Anthrofied, Feralized, and Taurification

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

The bulk update request #5179 is pending approval.

create alias anthrofication (0) -> anthrofied (144231)
create alias anthropized (0) -> anthrofied (144231)
create alias feralification (0) -> feralified (0)
create alias feralfied (0) -> feralified (0)
create alias taurized (0) -> taurified (466)
create alias taurfied (0) -> taurified (466)

Reason: The current names are anthrofied, feralized, and taurification.

Discussion, which named should we use? Why is one -fied, one -ized, and one -ification?

At a minimum we should alias the possible wording variations, but if we can pick one consistent name that would be good. If we decide I can update the BUR. To start, the BUR keeps the existing tag names but adds aliases for other possible variation.

Would any of these triplets be better:

  • anthrofication, feralification, taurification
  • anthrofied, feralified, taurified (or feralfied, taurfied?)
  • anthropized, feralized, taurized

Follow-up BUR:
# alias feralized -> feralified # duplicate of has blocking transitive relationships, cannot be applied through BUR
# alias taurification -> taurified # duplicate of has blocking transitive relationships, cannot be applied through BUR
# alias humanized -> humanified # duplicate of has blocking transitive relationships, cannot be applied through BUR

-fication sounds best to me
There's also humanoidized, which would become humanoidification

*ification kinda reads like it'd be tf, rather than just a character in an alternate form.

Something to point out is that anthrofied isn't a full equivalent to the other two tags.
Anthrofied applies to typically semi-anthro characters/species being depicted as more-anthro than usual, but feralized and taurification only apply when the character is entirely feral or taur. (So, feralized is not the inverse of anthrofied as it doesn't apply until you hit the anthro/feral binary flip)

-fication is present tense, while the other two options are past tense (Past tense is correct for these tags AFAICS).
Personally the -fied set seems less awkward that -ized.

@MagnusEffect Should we have another tag for characters that are canonically feral/taur and depicted as anthro? Or another tag for semi-anthro characters being depicted as more anthro? The wiki page just mentions more anthro than their "original form", so the current description is a union of these 2 concepts.

I agree with *ification sounding like TF, having them all be -fied makes sense, as long as there isn't a conflict with the existing anthrofied.

I support -fied but please remember to add the humanoid one before it goes through :) currently humanoidized
Also your BUR currently says feralized, should be feralified right?

I see it says "duplicate of has blocking transitive relationships, cannot be applied through BUR", how can I find out what these transitive relationships are, and get rid of them?

The only relationship taurification has is "implicates taur", I don't understand why this would prevent aliasing taurification -> taurified.

Yeah if the tag that is getting aliased has any implications or things aliased to it, then in no cases can it get aliased to something else without unaliasing and unimplying everything from the tag getting aliased.

Or you could just do it through alias request instead of bur, which can handle the transitive relationships

I'll point out that the tags were trying to make a distinction between a character drawn as a different form/species, and a real-life person drawn as an anthro/feral/etc. I don't know which tags were which, and the tag names don't make the distinction clear so reworking them may be necessary regardless, but it may be worth looking into it to ensure they're not getting mixed up more with these aliases.
