Topic: Transforming these tags to invalid_tag (a small TF BUR)

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

The bulk update request #5640 is pending approval.

create alias pre-transformation (310) -> invalid_tag (-9)
create alias imminent_transformation (486) -> invalid_tag (-9)

Reason: These tags are for a transformation that is about to happen but isn't happening yet. As such, it's not a visible thing you can see in the image, so can't be tagged by TWYS. It's primarily used for posts in a sequence before a transformation happens, or images where the artist or tagger asserts a transformation will happen and it's left to the imagination that one will happen.

I think visually implied ideas kinda count as TWYS, but I also think it's quite.. unmantainable, and tough to standardize.

Images like this which explicitly state that a transformation is about to happen are definitely TWYS:

post #4137333

But even without the TWYS argument, this is still a useful tag to have for blacklisting purposes and shouldn't just be nuked without replacement. I could see an argument for turning it into lore, and the "pre-" and "imminent" variants probably aren't distinct enough to not be aliased together.

If it was kept to pages where there's a clear visual implication a transformation is about to happen, and not regularly misused, maybe. But that's not how it's used, the vast majority are on pages where the tagger says a transformation will happen some time later (7 pages of pre-transformation here ), which violates TWYS. It would be like if the majority of posts tagged imminent_sex were like post #3313174 or post #3932584, because there will be sex at some point later despite no indication in the page being tagged that it's going to happen.

We don't tag what will happen in a series without visual indication in the given page. Blacklisting comics or multi-post sequences because of what they will contain is a completely separate issue, and doesn't have bearing on the post tags themselves, which should be TWYS.

For multi-panel comics it is still legit, right? In fact, about the only place I've ever used tags like this because it's a theme in some artists' comics.
