As far as I know, e6 uses Cloudflare and this technology could help users from authoritarian countries to use the site without VPN/Proxy/etc

Wasn't this what got Amazon and Russian Federation banging heads? i.e. Censors getting mad that a feature of Amazon's servers was being used to hide which site you're connecting to.

Hmm, mentioning Cloudflare, this reminds me of the unintended consequence for API users because obviously you can't do 'challenges' without a browser context. Ugh, disgusting that being a browser magically makes it a good bot or client, but this is the world we're dealing with, don't let perfect be the enemy of good, etc. An alternative is certificates that can be revoked if you do stupid things, or pay for the privilege of keeping doing it. ;) Sadly, because people can't help themselves, that leads to the irony of Reddit and Twitter pushing people back to scraping.
