Pokemon_fusion is a tag with 1.9k posts defined as: "Pokémon hybrids that are combined with different kind of Pokémon species." As it stands, it is actively harmful due to its implication to fusion. Fusion and hybrid are similar tags, but they are not the same. Fusion refers to combining two or more different characters into one, while hybrid refers to combining two or more different species in one character. These can and do overlap; most fusions are hybrids, but most hybrids are not fusions. Different kinds of pokemon are species, not characters, so the vast majority of posts under pokemon_fusion are only hybrids, not fusions.

There is also the tag hybrid_pokemon with 1.1k posts defined as: "Any Pokémon that is an off-spring of two different species. While this tag is very similar to pokemon_fusion, this tag may incorporate for more biological and genetic aspect of an Pokémon offspring than magically fusing together with other Pokémon, usage of DNA Splicers, or took from the references of Pokémon fusion generators." Per TWYS this distinction is completely useless. Pokemon_fusion can either be aliased to hybrid_pokemon or they can both be axed entirely and aliased to hybrid. I'm in favor of the second option as the only hybrids we allow specific tags for currently are the ones that exist in real life (mule, liger, etc.), so I don't see why pokemon should get special treatment. pokemon hybrid should return pretty much the same thing searchwise.

Regardless of what is chosen, a set of all the pokemon_fusion posts needs to be created so that fusion can be scrubbed off of most of them once this goes through.

[text] so I don't see why pokemon should get special treatment. pokemon hybrid should return pretty much the same thing searchwise.

Pokemon hybrid can return too many things, like pokemon-human hybrids or pokemon-real species fusion.
Example:
This thing is half human.

Hybrid_pokemon, on the other hand, seems go refer to the offspring of two pokemon species. It excludes pokemon humanoids and whatever else.
Example:
This thing has no traces of human.

It would make the search for a non-pokemon/human pokemon hybrid with a human in the image easier.
I would like to easily search for images of pokemon hybrids with no human features interacting with humans.

From the hybrid wiki: "Note that this tag does not apply to humans. 'Hybrid humans' are covered by body type tags such as animal humanoid, taur, and anthro." pokemon_humanoid does not imply and should not be tagged with hybrid.

That first example should be tagged with pokemon_taur and humanoid_taur, not hybrid and human.
