Topic: DNP list idea sugjestion

Is it possible to make the tag system that when a artist tag is added on the upload section that the site can automatically warn the user that this artist is DNP with a reason if any? before the submit button is clicked?

i check the DNP all the time but im sure some users dont see it or just dont care which end up with a record cause of it. maybe this method would encourage DNP not to be posted as much.
just a thought.

Maybe I'm missing it, but that doesn't seem to suggest anything about adding a warning to the upload page about the currently typed in artist being (C)DNP, it just gives a cleaner way for the site to identify them (e.g. automatically mention it on the artist page without having to add/update their wiki entry, prevent users from making malicious modifications to their artist page).

A warning on the upload page has been continually requested and shot down, for the simple reason that it's ripe for abuse and runs in opposition to existing (C)DNP detection methods (avoid_posting and conditional_dnp being autolocked, to prevent hiding that a post was ever tagged with a (C)DNP artist). I can't not see such a feature abused by posters trying to hide an artist being (C)DNP, either replacing the artist name with unknown_artist ("I didn't know who it was, honest!") or anonymous_artist (to dissuade people from deanonymizing the artist to discover they're (C)DNP), or just leaving it blank and letting it skirt under the radar, given the warning ahead of time.

The only way I could see it maybe working is if a (C)DNP artist is ever typed in to the tags, the upload form automatically adds avoid_posting or conditional_dnp as locked tags that can't be removed even if the artist tag is removed from the upload form. But that's not perfect either because some (C)DNP artist names may match other partially-written tags (e.g. try to tag kajinchu, and (C)DNP gets locked at kaji), and it's easy to work around by opening another upload form when you see it.

I may or may not have misread the original post.

Adding the avoid_posting or conditional_dnp tag in that corresponds with an artist on the DNP list would be a good idea too. at least then the user would know to flag their own post to avoid getting a record. my idea was just a way to look out for users here. and maybe reduce work loads on staff if it happens often.
