Topic: Complaining about/making fun of fetish content

So yeah, I dunno about other people but I'm really getting tired of every other post under /hyper or anything else related we get "HURR DURR BIG PENISES ARENT REAL" etc comments.

I get it, you find hyper porn silly. So blacklist it and move on.

Also frustrating that when I try to report posts like that, the admins/mods defend them and/or say "it's an old post so it doesn't matter". If somebody is reporting a post, that's because they saw it and it bothered them. The age of the post shouldn't matter when you're enforcing rules.

Or am I just mistaken and trolling images based on blacklistable fetish content isn't against the rules?

Updated by EDFDarkAngel1

p sure it isn't agiasnt the rules ppl troll in porn comments all the time

Updated by anonymous

So turn off comments. There is rarely anything that interesting in them anyway.

(and yes, if you're reporting old comments, unless they are extremely abusive, you are almost certainly overreacting.)

Updated by anonymous

In my experience that I have seen, the admins don't dig up old problems. It's kind of an eyes forward thing. Improve now, not issues in the past.

Otherwise they would be knee deep in old posts that have long been forgotten

Updated by anonymous

We aren't here to police the comment section for anything that could possibly trigger you. If it's older than a month, most of the time it is rarely worth acknowledging or it's already been taken care of.

We also don't want people trying to dig through old comments in the hopes of getting a particular user they hate in trouble for "technically breaking the rules" on a comment long enough ago that they probably don't even remember writing it.

They're secretly turned on by it and don't want anyone else to know.

To add on to this, different people have different tolerance levels. For example, if someone directly said to a user "lol ur a gay fag" less than a month ago, one user would ignore it, another might find it offensive, and another will think it's the most offensive thing ever said. For us (admins), we will either discuss about it in the Committee or we already know that it is harassment and the user that said it will get a record for it.

The admin conspiracy. I knew it was real.

Well, you have to admit that some people gets extremely defensive (and aggresive sometimes) at the slightless hint that someone doesn't like a particular fetish.
There is a particular topic I prefer to avoid because in my experience, people start bashing for no reason.

Personally, I find it more annoying when people keep talking about their hardcore fetishes everywhere. Even on cute and happy_sex posts.

For example, out of place "then he ripped her apart" type of comments.

Yes, it's ok if they like something but whydo they have to try to have every single picture with it.

I think it's nice to have openness about sexuality. Don't know why people feel the need to be all conservative on a furry porn website.

an open mind, a key part of keeping things...relatively peaceful, no? oh the things i could list off that i've seen on the internet over the years. my aunt and uncle would probably be horrified and deeply disturbed by it. lol and that's possibly before crossing into the whole nightmare fuel/gore stuff.

Sort of a shame that I have to completely disable comments so I don't see trolling on every other picture I look at. Oh well, I guess that's just how you guys roll. Carry on.

If it's bothering you so much as to disable comments, then they've already won.

The only problem I'd have is if they practiced it in real life. Like vore, rape, or other things that would be frowned upon in civilized society.

You've heard about such thing as a sexual roleplay, right?

pretty much this. only time i block anything comment related would be on youtube but e621 is quite tame compared to some of the...people you'd come across on youtube. i figured out how to use google's comment system so i could completely block people though after the trolls started attacking due to my choice of avatar (seems, having a pony as you're avatar makes you a fair target sometimes) pic.

but if anyone wants to someone on youtube block the G+ profile AND the matching youtube account and goodbye troll, said troll's comments/responses have been nuked from your view. :P

Because owners of the artwork often don't want explicit or creepy commenting on their work, and will pull the art when they see it. In other words, it costs the site art and damages relations with artists and character owners.

People are rude all the time to artists on this site and the admins don't do shit and sometimes even encourage it.

Updated by anonymous

Most of the time I don't mind people bitching about extreme content.
What I do mind are the people who do it over and over without blacklisting the kink they are bitching about.

Same goes for non-fetishy posts. There is one user who keeps nagging about how ugly humanoid dongs are on equines, and how the artist wasted their time drawing it, that kind of shite. That person could easily have avoided the content he kept nagging about.

I doubt that, although the line of creepiness blurs a bit on the comments i have never seen admins condoning aggression against artist, on the contrary i've seen a couple of people get punished for being rude towards artists.

I can't say that i've seen a lot since i only recently started contributing and actively looking at these kind of things.

Even on its worst days, rudeness is rather rare. (Alliteration, yay!) Set the precedent by conducting yourself in a respectful manner, and it'll tend to attract level-headed comments.

Heck if it's such a problem, why doesn't e621 have a comment-hiding system like FA? (One that the artist controls, not downvotes)

Because we don't censor people.

We just slap them if they step out of line.

If this happens 'all the time', it shouldn't be difficult for you to provide some proof of this.

We owe much of our success to not following in FA's footsteps, and even if we did do that, it wouldn't stop people from lashing out of us because they didn't get their way. It's the nature of the beast, and some of us are more sensitive to it than others.

I could show you some proof but you'd just dismiss it because you're bias about it. It's like when you show police evidence of discrimination and misuse of force they just do/say anything to justify it.

Proof is what I asked for, yes. I can't fix it if I don't know it's broken.

As for bias, what exactly am I biased against? It's my sole job to hold the administrators accountable. I mean, if you are going to claim that other individuals' criticism is "rude", then I will have to dismiss it.

We don't treat artists with more regard than the average user, nor less. I don't tolerate harassment on the site from anyone. No one gets special treatment, I have removed staff for that very reason.

You made a claim against the site, it was immediately challenged by three users. I ask for proof, you make a claim against me.

If you are making baseless and false accusations against the site in an attempt to gain attention, I can't imagine this ending up as a positive experience.

If you are making actual and true accusations against the site in an attempt to fix things that go against our best intentions, I am the person that would fix it .

Well there you go, any time someone is being rude just selectively decide that it's "criticism" and you're good to go I guess.

Sorry, I just don't believe you. I'm too mature and jaded to take some authoritative person saying that you should just take them at their word seriously any more.

I've mostly just accepted that most users and staff are generally rude here as a rule. It's sort of like posting on some sort of 4chanlite and you basically have to treat it as such and expect it. It doesn't bother me that much because I just don't care who harasses me, but I can honestly see why many artists don't like their art posted here.

I'm gonna call BS on this. I challenge you to find one instance, one single instance of a mod or administrator encouraging people to be rude to an artist. I'm going to assume you can't because that has never happened.

No, censoring means we cut out and prohibit any speech we dislike, we just punish them if they say something we dislike but we don't remove the offending content.

You're free to tell the Dave that a large amount of people on the forum (me included) openly dislikes you because you're, well, you.

I could give you a specific list why that is but I was taught that doing so in public is considered as rude.

I'm sorry that you feel that is the experience to be had here. I'll have to agree to disagree on, well, pretty much everything you said. If 'many artists don't like their art posted here', we wouldn't have a site. We also wouldn't have a site that has been growing every single year with new art and fresh faces.

But this goes to show that you can't make everyone happy. No matter what you do, or how well you do it, someone will simply, and adamantly, insist that you suck. Rude people calling other people rude. It's just a fact of life.

I, for one, am proud of the community here. I adore all of the artists that post here, and respect all of the ones that don't. I love chatting with big names and popufurs that email me during the week with questions and comments, and hearing how much they love the site.

True, there are people who still think the site is under the original administration, but we are only getting bigger, and better. So, for those of you who do contribute, thank you.

As for the original post, we don't tolerate harassment. If you want to make fun of someone for their choices, you're going to get told off. Or banned.

Furries complain about complaining like no others.

I'd say it mostly involves insulting the person, telling them how horrible and arrogant and lazy they are, and how people don't like them.

Of course every artist should gratefully accept this treatment and instantly become the perfect creature that people expect them to become afterwards.

You may be surprised. This is rather tame compared to a cursory visit to the frontpage of the internet. At the very least the pool of people with a beef is rather low.

Well the artist's personality has essentially nothing to do with it. Artists are not particularly known for their sanity or agreeableness, otherwise they would be psychologists or something.

Your persistent refusal to make specific, falsifiable claims, demonstrated throughout this thread and most recently in your avoidance of defining what 'constructive critique' is to you, demonstrates quite clearly that you are not making a reasonable argument. Your refusal to show evidence further demonstrates that.

No evidence + no specificity = no argument. Until a person brings both of those elements to the table, there is no reasonable expectation that their claims are taken at all seriously. There is no reason to believe they have anything more substantial going on than 'but.. muh feelz'

Whether you consider yourself to be arguing in good faith or not, I encourage everyone to hold your arguments to this standard, just as every argument should be.

Updated by anonymous

Eh, I decided not to have any "arguments" with this lot quite awhile ago. It would be a complete waste of my time.

Well I'm glad you don't consider arguing about why you won't argue about the evidence you won't provide a waste of your time. I, for one, have found your persistent refusal and yet continued participation to be highly amusing.

Come on guys, only 4 downvotes? My art is obviously way shittier and worthless than that. And why aren't there any comments about how bad this is? I thought you guys were all badasses who always make fun of stupid furry artists whenever they make a tiny mistake in anatomy :\

I really can't see how people can give you sincere advice after such a defensive position. You feel people are rude here but you are bringing it down on yourself.
