I kinda feel like this should just be aliased to brand_parody? maybe that's just me though

I think it's worth keeping. WcDonald's is kind of a meme due to it's frequency in anime.

WcDonalds specifically shows up a lot (at least in anime), so I'm fine with tagging it

It's just the McDonald's 'M' flipped upside-down to avoid trademark claims (particularly in anime, where it being a commercial venture makes use of the mark a potentially serious issue). If there was an actual joke to it, I could maybe see it as a meme, but it's just a McD's logo flipped to avoid IP infringement, so I don't think needs its own tag. Posts with it should be tagged mcdonald's and brand_parody instead.

Should probably also imply mcdonald's and brand_parody, since the brand being parodied is also supposed to be tagged alongside the parody.

True, i'll add that on now. ^^

That's a fair point and I'm not invested in this one at all, but I'll roll with this and see how it goes. If it gets rejected we'll do that instead.
Though just to give my full opinion, and again i'm not fighting you; i'd argue it's safe to assume that in the majority of modern art, especially comic and anthro art, it's an intentional nod by illustrators to the decades-old Wcdonald's phenomena and less-so a trademark thing, making it something of a meme and worth pointing out.

To me it just feels too.. "simple". It's easy to make other parody logos like having a single arch (like an N of sorts), or a single upside-down arch, like a U. Or turning it on its side, so it's like a 3 or E. There isn't an inherent joke to it, making WcDonald's no different than NcDonald's or UcDonald's or EcDonald's or 3cDonald's. Especially if "WcDonald's" isn't fully spelled out and it's just the M flipped upside-down as a W, where the full name can be anything (like WcDouglq,z, or perhaps "Wizzy's" as a play on "McD's").

I'd compare it to similar reference humor like the wilhelm scream. It could theoretically be a random scream sound picked out from a library, but it's most likely an intentional reference.

I swear to god I was completely unaware of this until 5 minutes ago; McDonald's just started a whole campaign like yesterday, putting "Wcdonald's" on their containers. So it's official now. Lol.
I would link a good source/pics but I've only found reddit posts so far.
Wild. >.>

Update: I managed to scrape up a picture from the convoluted web3 hellscape

Is that real or fake? That you only found Reddit posts and a single image makes me dubious.

I found this news report from 2018, where a single McDonald's in California flipped the M logo into a W to celebrate "International Women's Day".

There's at least two unrelated posts and at least three images, two of which are from the last ~12hrs. I just generally avoid linking to reddit, but i'll dig it up again. Here and here.

Without anything official, I'd still be cautious and call it a rumor or potential prank.

Here's a few more I found searching on reddit.
Manga bag, another cup, employee screen leak

I guess it's an intentional surprise to get people all confused so they post about it. Looks like it's working.. :P
FTR, I made this request because I literally just saw a post on front page with the flipped M thing.

Regardless of whether these are all official McDonald's products, the very fact that these pictures exist at all and are from multiple people indicates to me that WcDonalds is a recognized thing and that its worth tagging. If it's an official McDonalds thing, then it's their acknowledgment of the brand parody. If it's a fan thing, it's a recognized specific brand parody. Either way, it's worth tagging.
