Topic: [REJECTED] Tag implication: cat_tail -> tail

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

Most (animal)_tail tags have already been aliased away, so I'm pretty surprised to see this is still a thing.

I think aliasing it to tail would work best here - the wiki's intended use of being for humanoid characters has completely been disregarded and either way there's practically no way of telling a cat tail apart from many other furred tails.

Alright, I'll get working on an alias BUR of all the remaining animal tail tags. Shouldn't take too long.

The bulk update request #6860 is pending approval.

create alias animal_tail (1362) -> tail (1381134)
create alias cat_tail (5139) -> tail (1381134)
create alias wolf_tail (1182) -> tail (1381134)
create alias dog_tail (651) -> tail (1381134)
create alias fox_tail (3656) -> tail (1381134)
create alias dragon_tail (999) -> tail (1381134)
create alias horse_tail (941) -> tail (1381134)
create alias equine_tail (274) -> tail (1381134)
create alias lizard_tail (708) -> tail (1381134)
create alias mouse_tail (1311) -> tail (1381134)
create alias rat_tail (2049) -> tail (1381134) # duplicate of has blocking transitive relationships, cannot be applied through bur
create alias rodent_tail (252) -> tail (1381134)
create alias monkey_tail (228) -> tail (1381134)
create alias raccoon_tail (405) -> tail (1381134)
create alias scorpion_tail (439) -> tail (1381134)
create alias shark_tail (3614) -> tail (1381134)
create alias squirrel_tail (729) -> tail (1381134)

Reason: Pretty sure this is all the remaining animal tail tags. Bombs away, lads.

animal tails are really convergent and should be aliased to adjective/noun of a described tail instead of the specific species'.

the 'cat' tail type is not exclusive to cats and found in animals like monkeys, and pretty much in other fictional media like mewtwo. also helped by the fact that scut tail is grouped for animals like rabbits, deer, lynx, etc, that don't have their tail tags to their species from what i checked in wikis. as well as tags like rat tail which found in opossums, muskrats, bandicoots, etc besides rats'. and more invalid tail type like dog's, when the tail type of the dog's vary by breed.

I think some of these have valid usage, though.

Some tags like cow_tail or lion_tail have been aliased to tail_tuft because that's the characteristic trait of those tails.

There's topic #40462 for rat_tail already, which already acknowledges tagging by species isn't the greatest idea, but hasn't yet came to any conclusion which would be the best way to tag the typically hairless, segmented tail found on rodents.

Shark tails are also very distinct from the typical mammal tail, and shouln't have such a problem with TWYS.
