The bulk update request #7383 is pending approval.

remove implication western_dragon (46129) -> scalie (637607)
remove implication koopa_troopa (1834) -> scalie (637607)
remove implication hammer_bro (312) -> scalie (637607)
create implication argonian (5719) -> lizardman (3168)
remove implication argonian (5719) -> scalie (637607)
create implication iksar (322) -> lizardman (3168)
remove implication iksar (322) -> scalie (637607)
create implication slann (10) -> lizardman_(warhammer) (551)
mass update saurus -> saurus_(warhammer_fantasy)
create implication saurus_(warhammer_fantasy) (0) -> lizardman_(warhammer) (551)
change category saurus_(warhammer_fantasy) (0) -> species
create implication skink_(warhammer_fantasy) (314) -> lizardman_(warhammer) (551)
create implication kroxigor (163) -> lizardman_(warhammer) (551)

Reason: - western_dragon, koopa_troopa, and hammer_bro already imply scalie through other tags, so these implications are redundant.

- argonian and iksar seem to meet the definition of lizardman, so having them imply that rather than scalie directly.

- implications for the 4 sub-types of Warhammer lizardmen to the base lizardman_(warhammer) tag. Adding a suffix to saurus because this is just the Latin word for lizard and is used in a lot of real-life species names. The current uses of the tag seem to be correct, and it doesn't seem to have much history of mistagging, but it still might be better to keep it clear in the future. Seemed to be one of the objections to topic #38065 (which will need to be rejected - the implications are all outdated)

To go on a semi-unrelated rant: I'll be honest, I'm not really sure what the scalie tag is even for anymore.

  • It applies to reptile and dragon characters whether they have scales or not, a furred_dragon or furred_snake is scalie, somehow.
  • fish and shark aren't scalie, despite being scaly.
  • The scalie wiki says "Some amphibians" count as scalie without specifying which ones, only that frogs are generally excluded. There are no amphibians with scales.

What purpose is the scalie tag actually serving other than being reptile + some other arbitrary animals that may or may not have scales?

I know "scalie" is a big word in the fandom, so I wouldn't vote to invalidate it like we did with furry, but I'm really wondering if "reptilian" might be a better tag name considering the reptilian traits are what the tag really seems to be about.

What exactly is the lizardman tag meant to be used for? Even after reading the wiki, I'm not sure...

Same here, I don't get it. If it looks like a lizard, for all intents and purposes on this site it is a lizard. This tag is very confusing to me.

I was under the impression that it was specifically for the TTRPG-style lizardfolks, like the classic D&D lizardmen and similar lizardfolk from other settings. This trope:

Bulky, uncivilized. Kind of like how 'human' and 'barbarian' are different species in some settings. Lizardmen are the equivalent of the latter, as compared to anthro lizard.

But it's definitely got broader than that lately... Seems nearly pointless as a tag. Never seen Iksar as 'lizardmen' myself. Too slinky and too civilized for that category.

So basically another werewolf problem.

well, at least were charactera have a lore element that separates them from normal anthro wolves. "lizardman" just seems like it's based off vibes alone.
