Topic: E621 vs IknBunny -- how would you compare the "vibes" of the two websites?

E621 is still a pretty decent furry website (compared to other far more restrictive websites).... you guys still haven't caved in to pressure from the moral busybodies who want every furry website to turn into a Family Friendly Disney Affair....

But I will say, that over the course of the multiple decades this website has been around, the attitude here has certainly shifted and evolved. Comments that would have been seen as "innocuous" will catch someone a downvote, a flagging, or a banning.... someone posting in the comments about how "hot" the Sheath & Knife comics are will find themselves in the crosshairs of an angry mod, or an automated robo-mod... to me that seems a tad bit "over-kill." Someone commenting about a fictional character is instantly treated like a criminal.

I don't see much of that happening over at Ink Bunny... but some of you would also probably have your own "myths" about IB too... that it's a "Pedo Website" just because they don't ban cub artwork... well... e6 allows cub too, still.... and also Feral Artwork... and people think this website is a den of debauchery too.... I think you're both in the same boat as far as the whole "being demonized by the general surface level furry population" thing... e6 and IB are just flip sides of the same coin... you just have a different tone, a different flavor....

Both websites have their merits, both websites have their specific appeal... I think the main appeal being the "freedom" aspect... but I feel like some of that "free and relaxed" vibe is being chipped away at, and turning this website into a place where you must walk on eggshells. I don't deliberately go out of my way to offend people or piss them off... when I comment, or make a forum post, I am mainly just trying to be "cute and funny" and have fun engaging with the rest of the website... I don't try to be harmful or cruel or snide or condescending....

But others definitely do... others definitely crank the Sarcasm Knob up to 11. Even some of the mod staff... it feels like the "objective" of the website is not purely the enjoyment of furry artwork, but to "win" against a perceived "inferior" opponent... an "enemy." Well, I am not your enemy... and I am not trying to "spar" with any of you like this is the local Boxing Ring or Karate Dojo.

I just want to hang out here, look at some cute artwork and relax and chill and vibe.... but it seems like the best way to do that, the best way to enjoy e621 and have e621 enjoy you back -- is to just never say anything at all, never interact with the other users in any way, shape or form... just fave pictures and stay quiet as a mouse.... because to interact in any way whatsoever is to draw attention on yourself.

And on InkBunny, it seems like hardly anyone cares... the users there know they are weird, the users there KNOW that the general population of the Furry Fandom despises them for the myths made around them, so they just don't really care -- they don't care enough to "perform" like a dancing bear to try to make people like them... they just kinda do their own thing... which is something I admire about the userbase of Ink Bunny... despite all the "myths and rumors" and flack they get, they are actually super friendly and non-judgemental.

E621 on the other hand can get a bit grouchy and downright sadistic sometimes... not quite 4chan level of sadistic, but... Pretty often, it feels like this is more of a "competition" between gladiators in a coliseum, than it feels like people simply liking furry art and having a good time.... it's not like that all the time, just sometimes... people are rude to each other, people snap at each other... people go out of their way to misunderstand and misinterpret each other just to have an excuse to fight each other..... I rarely ever see that kind of User to User, or User to Mod, or Mod to User animosity over on Ink Bunny... sure it does happen, but it's rare.

And me bringing it up, me pointing it out -- shouldn't lead to some kind of snide "nationalist" type response where, if you make the slightest critique about the United States, someone will say "well if yew don't like it, then yew can just leave!" I like the USA and I know I have it good here, but it's not perfect... nothing is... e621 is a GREAT furry website, certainly better than most.... but it isn't perfect. Nothing ever is.

Is Ink Bunny perfect? Of course not... it's just a different flavor... like Strawberry vs Chocolate.

It's still Ice Cream.... and you're still on the SAME TEAM (even if you think you aren't).

And I don't see anything bad about the "Cross Pollination" between e6 and IB.

I think it doesnt help that e621 is more popular and "mainstream" than Inkbunny so moderation has to be more harsh on certain comments, it's not like IB doesn't have faults like they took a bit too long about some issues like AI arts but yeah IB is more chill.

You don't need to keep making a new thread every so often to talk about cub and how you feel websites are dealing with it.

We can have a flood of threads about if anthro airplanes are weird instead :v

Why are there no Furry CAR Fursonas?

I wanna be the Knight Rider car, please.....

This is about vibe vs vibe, though.....

And you needn't be so hostile.

Just giving you a heads-up.

The last thread you commented on (topic #40359) got locked because you started going on a tangent about how terrible certain websites are and how people react to cub.
Normally, a locked thread means that it's very old topic that doesn't need reviving, or that the user is talking about stuff that the mods don't want to continue.

Creating another thread just to continue that discussion is frowned upon, even if it's phrased in a different light.

Stuff.

Ok.... but notice how there is no option (that I know of) that would allow a user to DELETE a comment....

It would be fantastic if I had that as an option.... a nice big button that says "Delete This Comment."

I feel this is a bit like comparing Youtube to Facebook. Sure, they both host videos, but they're not remotely similar, otherwise. IB is not a booru. e621 is not a soapbox for your gallery.

You can edit or hide comments. That feature should be available to anyone.

BTW, Cinder is not actually a 'robo-mod'. That was a joke on the profile. ;)

Cinder isn't the ~only~ artificial intelligence on here.....

There are other "bots" being employed here.....

But I get it, I understand it.... this website is under-staffed, so it makes sense that you'd employ bots and pay them in bolts.

Oh my goodness enough already. We get it. You really really like cub and what to tell everyone about it.

Kindly, keep that to yourself and stop spamming the forums and comments with it, and blasting people who dissent as having "brain rot".

How would I compare the vibes?

e621: ethical curated archive thats a bit rough on lore tagging | inkbunny: everything is inside a walled garden that was once FA but is where all the young stuff ended up

One bonus point is that InkBunny lets you block users you do not want to interact with... you can also block artists whose art you do not want to see.

Both websites have "tagging" (a feature that F.A. promised, but never implemented)... as for "ethical" -- well, they're all drawings... artwork... fiction...

It's about as "ethical" as a Vegan Hamburger or Fake Leather.... (which is to say, pretty ethical).

....................................................................

I know there are probably some among e621's ranks who would, if given the power and the chance, do what Sage Nadia did back at Fchan.

The only thing stopping those particular people is -- well... the rest of the staff and the rest of the user base.....

I'm sure it will happen eventually, and when it does -- those types can pop champagne and celebrate....

Enough of these topics.

We don't care about Inkbunny. We don't care about your infatuation with cub that you keep dragging back here.

E621 also allows you to block users and artists. You can especially block art.
When I say ethical, I am not talking about the content. I am talking about amongst boorus, e621 is very strict with DNP and respects artists' wishes.
