a calico cat necessarily has a calico pattern. if it didn't it wouldn't be a calico cat. so in any case there's a calico_cat tag there should be a calico_pattern tag. idk about alias, you could make a case for that.

wait im not sure i understand the difference between alias and implication

An alias means that whenever tag A is put on a post, it will be automatically turned into tag B. The final submit will only show tag B.

An implication means that whenever tag A is put on a post, tag B will automatically also be added to the post. The final submit will show both tag A and tag B.

oh ok thats what i thought. i didn request an alias initally cause i wasnt sure people would be cool with such like. a drastic change. calico_cat turning into calico_pattern is just as fine with me as just implying

Took a very, very brief look at the calico_cat tag. It does have some examples that are like, white with only orange spots or whatever is going on in post #4680002 that would be mistagged if moved to calico_pattern. It's not super common, but it does happen. How I'd arrange the alias is calico_cat -> domestic_cat since they're always cats or cat hybrids. First though the calico_cat tag should be cleaned up, removed from images where the pattern isn't apparent and then update calico_cat -> calico_pattern.
