Reason: We have established lore tags and trans lore tags for years now. I think we should remove these tags from this old alias and move them home.

Also unsure of newhalf (I had to google it but it does seem to be more of a porn term than a gender identity term) but otherwise +1

I feel like it might be better to move these to invalid category to disambiguate them rather than directly alias them to the lore tags. transexual, for example, is currently invalid category rather than being aliased to trans_(lore).

from what I've heard/read it is/was a derogatory term used for transsexual people in Japan.

I'm not sure whether its derogatory or not but yeah I've seen/heard newhalf being a japanese term for trans people too.

The only reason I can assume the aliases some are worried about existing on site in the first place, is users trying to tag their trans characters. Which is why I think it's more appropriate to move them to our trans tag, for those who are looking for them then to leave them in gynomorph which really doesn't have to be trans in the slightest.

And moving them to invalid... just feels like it would be asking for trouble.

Sure, this makes perfect sense to me, the lore tags are the obvious target for anything gender-identity related. We shouldn't be conflating identities and body types, especially when one thing is so fluid and the other had hard requirements.

Arguably, the current aliases are actually wrong because a post-op trans woman wouldn't have a penis, no longer meeting the requirements for a gynomorph. A trans woman could also lack breasts, which wouldn't be a gynomorph either.

It's not like gynomorph is even supposed to be synonymous with a trans woman in the first place - fictional characters don't follow the same rules as real life. A cis woman could grow a penis and become a gynomorph.

I'm not sure about a few of these. mtf_trans and ftm_trans could also be for gender_transformation. And isn't newhalf explicitly referring to physical sexual characteristics? (I'm not completely familiar with the word, but that's the impression I got when learning of it)

It's possible that these need to be disambiguated first. Might want to move them to a separate BUR. Nevermind, they were aliased away. Oops.

Uhm, I should probably look up the history/metasearch results of the futanari etc. tags again? I could have sworn there was something like this. I think it's because of issues with the intersex tags in general going wayyyyyy back over a decade? Yeah, that seemed inaccurate use of 'gynomorph'. This is part of why we have tags like sackless. Some places use/used terms like 'full package' to make the distinction. Keep in mind, we're talking about porn boorus.

The lore tags definitely make these BURs appropriate.

Could be aliased to mtf and ftm if necessary

I think aliasing most of the mtf_* and ftm_* tags in this thread to these might be best overall, honestly.

although also they do need their wikipages expanded... whether or not we alias more tags to them.

EDIT: maybe just the *_transsexual and *_trans tags, actually... I do feel a bit weird conflating transgender, which is what the trans_(lore) tags are generally for, and transsexual which is a separate but related concept that we don't tag the same way, really.

aliasing the *_transgender tags to the lore tags should be fine.

Fill me in on transexual

just as gender and sex are related but not identical concepts, the same is true for transgender and transsexual. the word has seen some decline in use, but transsexual is closer in definition to the word "post-op" which has become the more commonly used term.

while in the grand majority of cases a transsexual character will also be transgender we do have a few examples of characters who are cisgender who either had top surgery, or fully transitioned but never identified as the opposite gender.

since the concept is separate we do have a few tags who that are more align with transexual's definition and might more warrant it being disambiguation rather than aliased to a valid tag.

I wouldn't say it'd be the hugest deal to alias them to the members of the trans_(lore) tag family since those are kind of the closest adjacent tags and it wouldn't be much of a hassle to remove the tag the one in a million times it gets missadded.

We'll put those aside for now then, and come back to them later.
