Those weren't a mistake, I was unsure of which to alias to, so I just decided to alias them to that base tag
There's a clear precedent with gender/form as to which to alias to, I don't have an opinion on where to alias the others

Precedent? The only convention I am aware of is aliasing to whatever comes first in the name (so you don't type nude and the first result is to teacher), unless the other alias destination is pretty small.

I wonder if student_dominating_teacher would be better aliased to younger_dom_older_sub.

The age of either side isn't necessarily defined, a teacher could be younger than the student

technically yeah, but like, 99% of cases it's going to be the student is younger.

I mean, if we're going to be aliasing, I feel like younger_dom_older_sub is the closest adjacent. it's also less populated than student, unlike dominant, so it's not going to mess with the auto-complete.

Ultimately some of these deserve to be aliased away, I am just not sure which. Some of these are just there because "hey, I noticed this thing could possibly be tagged, I'll just tag it and we can alias away the ones we don't want" (I am tagging with the assumption that we can clean up whatever subset of these is undesired here on the forums).

I am biased towards the larger/smaller ones because I love size difference. I started larger_student because I wanted to see more of that content. I only created smaller_student as a means to search student size_difference -larger_student -smaller_student to find posts to categorize. As discussed in https://e621.net/forum_topics/43680 it is tricky though, since student/teacher tags may be better as lore, and it is hard to know which tag combinations are valuable.

And situations like this are exactly why we say to ask about creating tags before just doing it. Just because you have a fetish doesn't mean we need a tag for it. You're just creating a massive mess we have to clean up in the future. I'd highly recommend you suggest any future tags you want to create in the forums before going and spending days to months tagging them. That'll both avoid your work getting destroyed in a few clicks and someone needing to clean up the tags.

It's not a mess, it can all be consolidated as desired in a matter of minutes by someone in charge accepting this BUR you've made.

Please do keep in mind that at the same time, I am also adding other tags to these posts. For example, I am adding male_anthro to many of them. The tag edits as a whole are unambiguously good - it is trivial to clean up unwanted tags with BURs, it is much harder to manually add missing tags.

Also note, it is useful to have more examples of combination tags early on to allow the e621 staff to better determine where to draw the line. If I didn't make a tag like male_student, it's likely that somebody else would have done so in the future, but since we made a decision here, that future person will likely find it aliased to male.

You aren't considering the time it took me to compile the tags and make this BUR, or the time it will take to change the wiki pages. Neither of those are a "matter of minutes".
