Topic: A couple tag questions!!

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

I've had a couple tags reversed/edited on some things and i want to get further confirmation if possible

One of these was "Disembodied hands do not count as having a species" AKA disembodied (very much human looking hands)) do not count as human, so human on x and other tags wouldn't apply, is that true? i didnt see it on wiki's anywhere when i checked atleast

as i see on the wiki also, fingers wouldnt count as penetration i assume? just want further confirmation, such as with x penetrated or x penetrating tags, i assume those also dont apply as they implicate the penetration tag

also, ive had tags such as ambiguous on on x for first person hands thing removed from one of the posts so i wnat to know if that was also wrongly tagged on my end, it was done in the same edit as the person that said the quote above about disembodied hands not having species

so, in this sense, something that looks like human hands and the fingers are ""penetrating"" the subject that is non human (Such as one of the images i uploaded) would NOT have any human tags and NO (x) penetrating or (x) penetrated tags?
one half of that is from a random tag edit reason on one of my posts and the other one is from the wiki as far as i see, so answers very much appreciated! ๐Ÿ˜„
just want to make sure i can properly manage the tags i put!

I don't remember hearing anything like that myself. I can imagine there are cases where it's difficult or impossible to determine species from disembodied hands (particularly with sketches and line art), but that would hardly be universal, particularly with full color completed pieces where you can tell when there's fur/scales/skin and the color.

There's been discussions on changing that, for fingering and fisting and the like to count as penetration. I don't know what the status of that is, though.

Disembodied hands count as a character, and if you can't tell the character's sex from what's visible on them, they count as ambiguous_gender and the related ambiguous_on_* tags would apply.

I've had/seen some discussions on this before (might've been with Ariados, I can't remember and finding the comment would be difficult). I've never really grokked the stance that a species, or especially a _form_ shouldn't be tagged unless more of a character's body is visible. I think the only argument I could really understand for not tagging a form on a disembodied part would be not tagging a disembodied animal penis as feral or anthro in cases where it'd be impossible to tell. but in the case of hands and the like, you really ought to be able to tell if a character is human enough to be tagged human or not.

the user ariados was indeed the one that did the tag edit to one of my prior posts, and that confused me because i didnt see such things on the wiki, with the tag reason being the one i indeed quoted aswell!
i never reverted the reversion of said tags because i wouldnt know whats best ofc, but i've been curious about it since then, and other recent tag edits is what made me also come to question here!
the wiki is definitely useful much of the time, just unsure when something isn't listed there! ๐Ÿ˜„
