Topic: [APPROVED] Tag alias: latex_sheep -> latex

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

Added sheep to the images that weren't tagged with it. Some of them are obviously costumes, but I figured it's probably best that people who want latex sheep can find them.

The tag alias #72953 latex_sheep -> latex has been approved.

Reason: A combo of living inflatables and latex costumes and tf. Doesn't need a specific species tag.

I recommend taking a look at the posts under the tag currently and trying to replicate that level of consistency in results with other tag combinations to reconsider a bit.

the posts currently covered by latex_sheep dont show up easily via searches like latex_suit+sheep or latex+sheep normally, if it was aliased away it would remove ease of searchability for that trope. I need to point out here, whats currently tagged under latex_sheep is a specific trope/suit design thats been sorta a mini trend in latex/suit artist communities, most of the posts the tag is on is not just any latex sheeps, but a distinct similar reoccurring idea thats inspired from all the similar posts under the tag. it would make more sense to alias it to a new less confusing tag name to keep the searchability of the theme.

it isnt always living suits, it isnt always tf, but theres a consistent shape/design a bunch artists draw this suit with. I think the best course of action is simply renaming the tag.

I really like the sheepsuits by gamblepaws

something like a general, character or even copyright tag like sheepsuit_(gamblepaws) would clear the confusion with the tag name and still retain the searchability of the theme. because again otherwise this trope is hard to snipe with tag combinations.

The gamblepaws images are from 2020. The oldest images in the latex_sheep tag are from 2015. It didn't come from that artist. I suspect that multiple people have made similar designs (because it's a rubber version of the stock/generic cartoon sheep design) that have been referenced and remixed.

good point, sorry I didnt look further into the dates. regardless I just hope we can come to a conclusion that isnt removing the only way to search this stuff because thatd be a shame.

Idk, I feel like not every recurring motif needs a tag. The black rubber floppy-eared puppy suit for example. People reference real masks, other's work, and invent it independently, but ultimately it's a very similar look:

You can use sets for this purpose.
