Reason: I have no idea why every single one of these characters is given a suffix. Most of them are unique names. If another character or artist with that name is tagged in the future, we can disambiguate then.
Also, this has lead to tags like frecklewish_(skyclan)_(warriors) and frecklewish_(thunderclan)_(warriors), which is super ugly and completely unnecessary. They don't need that second suffix, *_(skyclan) and *_(thunderclan) are fine.

(Please let me know if you spot any that should retain the suffix due to conflicts I missed!)

Many of these feel suitably generic. I could imagine names like ambermoon or barkface popping up elsewhere. brightsky could also be confused for a literal bright sky. brightheart sounds like a carebear.

None of them have, though - if they do in the future, we can disambiguate them then. As of now they are unique on-site.

A name shouldn't need to have multiple current uses to warrant a disambiguation suffix, if it's built from common words or is an apparent risk of being used for other things in the future. Disambiguations can take a while to get done, especially if they have aliases and implications that need to be undone and redone first, followed by getting people used to using the suffixed name after they've grown accustomed to the unsuffixed one, causing more cleanup work. It's just less hassle to just have a suffix to start with for at-risk names, especially if it already has a suffix, instead of waiting for it to become a problem.

I personally prefer to have suffixes for most character tags if possible, just because it’s so easy for anyone to come up with a new character with the same name as another character, no matter how unique that name might sound. Character tags are unique in the sense that people can basically just make up new character tags whenever they want, so this is a unique problem not shared with the other tag categories. People are constantly making new characters, so it’s likely that some of these will eventually become ambiguous with someone’s OC or some character in a new piece of media at some point - or even already is ambiguous with a character that either hasn’t been posted here or was never tagged with the character. While it’s true that disambiguating tags later isn’t too hard, it’s just easier if we never have to unfuck the tags that were originally fine before being unsuffixed.

I sorta just like being consistent, too. If most of these characters need suffixes already, I like to just have all of them have it. Also, it’s kinda nice to see at a glance what a character tag belongs to without having to open the wiki (plus a lot of character tags don’t even have wikis). I’ve seen so many random character tags with no wiki and no implications and having no idea what the character is supposed to be from - especially on posts with a lot of characters.

my little pony uses the similar naming scheme for characters to warrior cats and almost all character tags use the mlp bracket. not to mention its uncommonness of names compared to warriors.

Also formerly-Tigerheart has been named Tigerstar for several years now, we've just never updated his tag due to the name conflict, so might as well fix that too.
The new suffixes chosen are how the Warriors wiki and wider fandom refers to them. Clan/group suffixes when they are in different clans or groups, or arc/book suffixes when they are in the same clan or group.
