Topic: Tag alias: drawing -> drawing_in_a_drawing

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

The tag alias #73947 drawing -> drawing_in_a_drawing is pending approval.

Reason: The tag "drawing" is often misused as a meta tag for 2D (mostly digital) drawings, and I think having the name be "drawing in a drawing" would make the intent of the tag much clearer. If a character is currently in the act of drawing something, creating_art should cover that.

That would just cause drawing_in_a_drawing to be filled with mistags instead.

This wouldn't be accurate for 3D images/animations that have a character drawing. Something like drawing_(activity) may be better for that.

seems like maybe drawing should be disambiguated honestly

It could link to drawing_(object), creating_art (with drawing_(activity) aliased for discovery), and to the artwork meta tags

Updated

If we were to have "drawing" be disambiguated, I suggest we have the disambig page link to the tags drawing_in_a_drawing, digital_drawing_(artwork), traditional_media_(artwork), creating_art, and the drawing_(activity) tag proposed by Watsit. How does that sound instead?

The bulk update request #9756 is pending approval.

remove alias drawings (2) -> drawing (3234)
remove alias draw (0) -> drawing (3234)
create implication drawing_(activity) (0) -> creating_art (913)

Reason: Followup:
alias drawing -> drawing_(disambiguation) alias drawings -> drawing_(disambiguation) alias draw -> drawing_(disambiguation)

We might want to populate drawing_(object) first, before the alias, since that's what drawing was intended to handle

"Creating art" is a bit more broad of a term. It can also apply to sculpturing, and technically even stuff like cloud or starry sky manipulation, or creating auroras, really anything that can be seen as "artistic", which can be subjective. I don't think we need a tag to cover all that, so I'd prefer the reverse alias.

In that case, shall I start populating the tag "drawing_(object)"?

It's been a little while. Should I make a different thread asking for "drawing" to be disambiguated instead?

Could we have drawing_(activity) imply creating_art instead?

I think "creating_art" is too vague and subjective to be a useful tag.
