I don't think a character owner being inactive is a good reason to not use them as a disambiguating suffix. They still created the character even if they're no longer around. We also try to avoid <name>_the_<species> or <name>_(<species>) style tags (if it's not their official branding) since characters can be depicted as an alternate_species and would use the same character tags.

Yeah, what? Why would we ever remove a character creator's name from a tag just because they've been inactive for 5 years?

Even if it was 100 years ago and the character design had fallen into public domain, the creator would still be the best disambiguator for a common name.
