Topic: what are the proper tags for tabuley's character "sunny"?

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

i've been getting increasingly confused over this character's tags as time goes on, it seems split down the middle whether people think she is a bat or an equine.

she has the general features of a donkey, but tabuley typically draws characters with tails who should have tails, and i don't see her with a tail.

some such characters are gala and sarah, a giraffe and horse, respectively.

she also doesn't seem to have hooved feet like them.

at the same time, she lacks the bat-like features dusk and dawn have, such as the type of nose and ears.

she's also never been portrayed with wings as far as i can tell.

i've always thought sunny was a donkey, but it's clearly a very confusing situation.

does anyone know for certain what she is?

has tabuley ever outright mentioned what sunny is supposed to be? is she meant to be a hybrid?

hopefully someone knows the answers so she can be properly tagged, cause the tags are all over the place.

some works even have her tagged as a bat AND an equine, which muddies the waters even more.

If you're interested in what the artist intends them to be, check how they tagged their characters themselves. Every time they tag the character, they add bat (chiropteran) but only in the most recent change was donkey or equine included (equine_penis is pretty frequent though)
Though that can be because artist intention/approach to tagging changes.

If you want a definitive answer, ask them directly.

As for tagging purposes... species tags are a mess. Species tags are basically 1 step away from lore (it must be reasonable, you can't say one thing when it blatantly looks like another) and without artist intent, falling back on twys results in it not being standardised across posts

I think it'll be acceptable to tag as bat, donkey, and hybrid

I was under the impression that while Dusk is a microbat (your typical carnivor/insectivore/haemophagic bats), Sunny is a megabat (herbivores).

so sunny is definitely a bat, then?

that's so weird, considering the equine penis.

i'm never gonna be able to see her as a bat. :/

Look at the head structures and facial patterning of megabats/fruitbats and it'll make more sense.
As for cockshapes, according to furries, every animal either has a horse penis, a dog penis, a human penis, or a weird cone penis, it's useless as a diagnostic; most felines have dog dicks or human dicks on here. Bat penises tend to be fairly human-like, so it may be viewed as boring.

eh, not seeing where the long floppy ears come from... but the nose, maybe?

she's still not portrayed with a long tongue or wings like dusk/dawn, which really added to the confusion.

though, i suppose dusk was only shown with wings in a single animation, and they just kinda disappear when she stops using them.

it's just odd that tabuley would give a bat an equine dick when they gave dusk/dawn normal dicks.

i looked up a fruit bat penis and honestly, if they got rid of the equine dick-ring and just made it a more consistent shape along the entire length, it would've been spot-on and made the whole thing a lot less confusing and more accurate.

i guess it just throws me off cause for the most part, tabuley fairly accurately portrays most features on their characters regarding the species they belong to.

so sunny is an oddity among them all.

Some megabats do still have quite large ears, keep in mind furry traits are generally exaggerated, however, particularly those that lend to "cuteness".
While some nectivorous bats do have extremely long tongues, most bat tongues are fairly small. Dusk is actually the weird one here for being a microbat with a long tongue, which would point to a nectar bat rather than an insectivorous or haemophaegic species.
