Topic: Tag Alias: eeveelution -> pokémon

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

Aliasing eeveelution -> pokémon.

Reason: Not a useful tag.
Would suggest "invalid tag" but I figure that anything that someone wants to tag "eeveelution" should have a pokemon tag, and this way there's less "invalid tag" clean up to do.

I'm fine either way. But we sure should get rid of the "eeveelutions" tag.

I second this, but considering it currently has 3400 tags, I'll wait for a little more support before processing it.

I think it is useful. At least, I use it. Yes, it can be replicated with ~s, but only by priv+ (takes 8 tags ored together). Or you could do 8 different searches, but those will turn up a bunch of duplicates and generally be less convenient. And it's probably easier on the server to find one tag than to find 8 tags ored together, and certainly easier than 8 different searches.

Probably missed the other thread, but you can replicate it with "pokemon *eon"
And if you hate Charmeleon for some reason, you should add a -charmeleon in there too.
Easy to do, even without priv+

This matters not at all to me, I just want to say that the wildcard searches don't seem very intuitive, IMO. I didn't even know about them until after I joined here. If I'm in the minority, well, sucks to be me.

Right. I've been spending far too much time in databases with really terrible search.

Objection withdrawn.
