Tagging specific words always seems weird to me. To be fair, the wiki says it allows for variants, but what counts as a variant? "Plap" might be the most common, but "shlp" is another common* sex sound. Is it a variant? What if it's not in English, such as "パンッ"?
Unless we want to rename or nuke all these onomatopoeia tags, this alias should be fine, though.
*after checking, it actually seems to be super rare, but my point still holds.

Users can already transcript stuff in the description, it's getting people to care that might be pretty difficult

We already have a standardization problem in how to format descriptions, adding transcripts there just makes it worse.

Well with transcripts we'll be starting from scratch (so we can make our own standards) and the people who won't conform to the standard probably can't be bothered to do transcription either
