Aliasing spike_(eg) -> spike_(mlp).
Reason: Same character, but canine.
Different version of the same character doesn't merit it's own tag.

All of these make sense. We don't need an entire new tag when you can just search <character> + equestria_girls.

This may be one of those polarizing things, like pinkemena. People could black list <character> + equestria_girls instead I guess

It's certainly a possible polarizing thing.
I wanted to get on top of it quickly when I saw the tags start popping up so that people wouldn't get too used to them.
Simply put, there's no need for the tags.
It the same character, we already have a character tag for it, we don't need a second one.
We tag the series separate from the character, the only reason that they have _(mlp) is to separate them from other character of the same name.
We don't have tags for mario_(mario_64), mario_(paper_mario), mario_(super_mario) etc.
The only reason I can see this as polarizing is that someone tends to come out of the woodwork and complain about any changes in tags regarding MLP.
I hope it's not the case here since it's clearly an unneeded tag.

Truth. Just playing devil's advocate for that one.
