Aliasing showing off -> presenting.

What if the character is showing off something in their mouth? Or is showing off to impress people?

showing_off is being used as "showing off a piece of sexual anatomy" be it pulling down a shirt to reveal breasts, pulling down bikini briefs to show off ass and balls, or simply showing off oneself while nude.

Just cause it's being used as that, doesn't mean they're the same thing.

Not really. Too much established use in a pretty sexual manner for "presenting". Something genital should probably up close and in your face for this tag: canonically, I think post #121524 post #106365 for this. I guess what I'm driving at in my usage is the old stick about female animals presenting their hindquarters to be mounted: crude and animalistic sure; that's the idea. Welcome to the fandom.
Rough edges: people seem to think a fem in a spread-legs pose is the same thing and have retagged as they see fit. Not sure about that, probably not. But perhaps a cock in your face is "presenting" in a general sense. This seems uneven.
Either way, it's much more sexually charged than merely showing off: that can be non-sexual joking around, posing, or trying to look awesome to gain attention. post #143184
Counterproposal of sorts: let's go though the db and add in "presenting_hindquarters" for those cases where the character's doing just that and trying to be as unambiguous as fucking possible for the viewer or another character. That gives us the space to decide whether we want to be cleverer with spreading, flashing, exposed etc. on the one hand or exhibitionism, showing off, in public, attention seeking or whatever for the other sense.

The picture you linked with Rainbow Dash isn't even tagged showing_off. All the pictures under the tag are basically presenting their goods in that sexually charged manner you're talking about. Examples are post #111046 and its parent/child, post #128397 and post #113415 among others. Maybe just go through and retag everything and then start tagging things as showing_off that are actually showing off, without the sexual interpretation?

Ah, I needed an example. RD is a good choice, as ever.
Adding tags to reduce ambiguity and then fixing it later works for me. I'm starting from the last page adding in presenting_hindquarters with a mix of raised_tail and all_fours, or on the flipside legs_up and on_back too. Will document when done.

Alright. I'll go through showing_off and move any appropriate posts over with new tags.

showing off is kinda childish way of putting it. i rather have presenting because you are showing it as it does mean the same but presenting is more known

Hrm. Not sure what to tag post #113415
Also, what should we tag the ones where they're presenting their penis? i've just been adding presenting, but does it need a specific tag?

presenting_penis maybe? Good to be specific.
Childish? Good point. Rainbow Dash shows off childishly. Rarity presents herself fabulously, darling. I should pick my ponies better.
Other things falling out of this: I'm doing side-ons that look kinda seductive or where you don't get to see the goods much - not yet, anyway - as inviting rather than presenting_hindquarters, because "inviting" is much little less blatant.
Yes, you can be presenting your hindquarters and on your back. You just have to be a little curled up about it and showing plenty of butt. Not really the same thing as a spreading pose. Hope this bit makes sense.

presenting? they are doing just the same as any other would, showing a genitalia and/or anus is presenting

Mm... Looking at the tag, i don't think we need to be specific on presenting. It's defined as showcasing the sexual anatomy, regardless of sex.

sorry if this gets doubled but you just simply type in male and then presenting. which is just a stupid reason to add presenting_penis

But that will also get you pics with females presenting and males in the picture. On the other hand, presenting male -female would get you solo and multiple pictures of males presenting. So yeah, doesn't need a specific presenting_penis tag necessarily.

you can add it to the tags sure but removing the necessary ones is really ignorant to my opinion

sorry but removing just presenting is a stupid. then i would have trouble finding the right image i would need to find and have to go through the trouble to find just THAT. go ahead and add another tag but dont remove and replace

You're being the ignorant one if you think for a second that we'd remove presenting. Hell, that has absolutely NOTHING to do with this thread. Do you know what an implication is? It's when one tag adds another by virtue of its presence. So for example spreading is implied by spread_pussy, spread_anus, spread_legs, and more. IF presenting_penis were to be used, it would imply presenting.

Okay, presenting hindquarters is up for that special case; I've added it to the presenting ones that roughly fitted the bill and done a small amount of other tidying.
Presenting other specific sexual organs or areas isn't sorted yet, but searching "presenting -presenting_hindquarters" should be a start for those who want cock-in-the-face tagged distinctly.
Ultimately I want to purge the showing-off-type or sexy-pose uses from presenting. But another day for that.
