Topic: Tag Alias: doctor_whoof_(mlp) -> doctor_whoof_(mlp_fanfic)

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

Aliasing doctor_whoof_(mlp) -> doctor_whoof_(mlp_fanfic).

Reason: clarification of which characters were created by the fans and which are actually part of the series. Have been going through the other tags and applying the fanfic addendum as appropriate (fanfic = fanfiction = fan-created fiction). have been doing it manually for most, but there's 47 instances of this tag. Would be easier to alias.

And add an implication of doctor_whoof_(mlp_fanfic) to doctor_who, please?

Scratch the initial alias. I just learned that he has, in fact, been rolled into canon. The implication would still be nice.

Doctor_Whoof_(MLP) to doctor_Whoof_(MLP_FANFIC) No. But Doctor_Whoof_(MLP) to Doctor_who is more acceptable.

Most of the characters with any number of tags are based off of a background pony that appeared in some episode or another. Most of the names have been coind by the fans, not the creators or the show.

There is no need for this clarification, as the clarification is already there, as all of the "cannon" ponies have (mlp) after their name.

Have been going through the other tags and applying the fanfic addendum as appropriate (fanfic = fanfiction = fan-created fiction).

Fanfic is not used in this way. Most of the ponies you are tagging have no fiction associated with them. Many of them are not even fan characters. some are mascots, some are ponified versions of OTHER characters, andmsot of the rest have only one or two instances of it.. in those cases, leaving the name along as it is as posted is 'better' creating a new tag. If I drew an artica sparkle pony, It's be taged pony and artica_sparkle, not artica_sparkle_(mlp fanfic).

Please stop mlp_fanficing character names.

Why is everyone adding _(mlp) to ponies that do not appear in the show? Because they're drawn in a pony style, is that what makes them a MLP character? This is wrong. You wouldn't consider sonichu part of the Sonic universe, would you?

Actually "doctor_Whoof" does appear in the show river. Generally "oc" characters don't get coined with the _(MLP) tag, I might do it out of habit at this point. Generally most of the background ponies are left unnamed, the fans come to a general census on their name, and thus their named for easier tagging. Unless you'd prefer we call them "Brown_haired_Background_pony" Or something like that.

Yeah. Dr.Whooves is "named by consensus" and has a role in the show, if not a name.

My point above, though, is that space_core_pony_(mlp_fanfic), zoidpony_(mlp_fanfic), blues_brothers_(mlp_fanfic) do NOT need to be tagged. space_core+my_little_pony, zoidberg+my_little_pony, blues_brothers+my_little_pony.

Because they were fan-created ponies in crossover. They aren't just "unknown_pony" or just whatever their original character is. Thus the tag of the original character as well as the fan name if one was provided- Filly J. Fry, Zoidpony, etc.
