The furry fandom was based on the common interest ing Anthropomorphical creatures (In otherwords human like creatures). It still is that, though there are a lot of different groups within the fandom, as in many fandoms. There are those that are just in it for the porn, some just for the cons, some for the rp that can be done, and so on so forth. They all are appart of the fandom though their own groups within it.

As for the RP on this site, from the start the commenting system was mainly for discussions about an image, though shortly after the site was made creepers got to their list, (In the means people started to write rather creepy shit) same with trolls and so on. Some just want to complain which later turns into drama, the RP groups on this site came rather late but they have been here and there on the site even from the start. So limiting it makes so those that want to discuss or just compliment or give opinion about an image won't need to sit and read 20+ rp messeges which often goes out of hand and from the picture in general.

Myself I try not to get into too much drama or on the bad boy list. Though I tend to get on that as well nothing can really be done about that XD

i know my opinoin probably means nothing but what if we separate the rp comments from the actual comments in a similar way to "comments that are below the treshold" and when people comment they could tick a box that indicates if there comment is rp or not
i realise take a lot of work on the manetanance(<---you know what i mean) but i belive this could be a good comprimise for all of us

There are plenty of dedicated sites for RP out there already. I would prefer to see e621 stick to its purpose as an image tagging site.
