I checked the wiki pages but cant seem to get a clear answer on this; which tag would you use, or would you use both, etc?

vulpine = fox-type animal, foxes are canines, so canine.

Vulpine is aliased to canine so it really doesn't matter which one you use.

Why is it aliased? Is there no difference between foxes and canines?

If that's the case than dog and canine might as well be aliased...

Because foxes and dogs are both a member of canidae. And canine is simpler and easier to remember than canid, so that's why we use it instead.

I'm amazed this hasn't been discussed ten times already.

Whatever. Dictionaries recognize the use of canine as a synonym for canid, and the use has become entrenched. I'm sure it's especially common for new members of the furry art sub-culture to be more familiar with the word "canine" than "canid", and would expect to find canids under the tag "canine".

Canine is common spelling. Its for proper simplicity sakes.

Foxes and Wolves and Dogs are all of the family canid/caninae - but canine is the common use word among most if not all sites.

More advanced taxonomiers may be miffed on lack of Vulpine here; but they'll get over it.

It sounds like we're in violent agreement.
