Topic: Tag --> debate_fuel

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

I'm taking someone's tag suggestion here. What are some thoughts on a debate_fuel tag for posts that stir up all kinds of lengthy arguments? Most of these posts I want to see, but I don't like having to scroll down paragraph after paragraph to find a comment actually pertaining to the art. I could downvote every one sure but some of these are very valid arguments and it feels like a misuse of the tool.

Good tag or excessive whining?

I think it could have a purpose. It can both attract users to join an obnoxious debate or deter users who hate other people (taking this into an extreme case, of course). We also have the tag nightmare_fuel, so that could justify the creation of the tag.

1)It could help mods easily find these posts and watch for people rule-breaking
2)people could blacklist the arguing (but along with the post)

I'd reserve this to posts with excessive arguing spanning pages, like nightmare_fuel is for excessively traumatizing posts

I don't see the use in this since people can easily just report bad comments. I can't get behind anything that has the potential to add fuel to drama fires. Besides, we already have the lol_comments tag, which serves a similar enough purpose.

Well the comments aren't bad, they are just very lengthy and off topic. The tag is for people to avoid the drama, not incite it. Most people who join these dramas didn't look for them. Besides if we have the lol_comments one then why not one for drama, cuz I'd like to blacklist the latter and subscribe the former

Very much do not support, for the reason Ippiki stated. Don't make summer any worse than it already is.

On that note I'd suggest nuking lol_comments since it serves no productive purpose.

Fair enough, and I support nuking the lol one, it seems like humor already has that one covered

...
no.
Humor is a tag about the content of the post, lol_comments is a tag about the comments. I don't think we should tag the comments at all, but if we do we definitely shouldn't use the same tags for post content and comment content.

No way in hell we're getting rid of lol_comments. I love that tag. It's not hurting anything.

How about turning it into a Pool in that case?

1. It'll be out of the tag list for those that want it nuked
2. Posts like that can still be found and managed

I'm neutral about either though; whichever works

Well if humorous comments get a tag, why not arguments? I'm sure people tired of reading it could blacklist it and be happy. I like the pool idea too but that might be one big pool. Either way it might be unnecessary.

Maybe allow users to search for posts by comment count?

Ah, then it could be blacklisted one way or the other. Only con would be no gaurantee of the comments being long obnoxious fights or a hundred people agreeing on how good an image looks

Search for post by comment count and score? (e.g. 10 comments with rating -3 and under)

And there we go, a reasonably simple solution. Only question left is would that be easier than adding a tag?
