Downsy is being retired. This is really really not an appropriate venue and associating him and this site is frankly depressing considering the subject material of both, respectively. This was also the reason for the mascot contest.

I didn't even know that the favicon was supposed to BE something. It's so small, I just thought it was just some random mish-mash of colors...

They use Ruby on Rails. In fact, it was maybe a week ago or so that they had a little technical difficulty (I'm guessing upgrading the Ruby backend) and RoR exposed an error message about something like incompatible versions or whatnot.

Yeah, I was upgrading some of the gems and things went a little wonky until I fixed it ;)

Out of curiosity, is e621 open source? I know there are websites that act in a similar method as e621.

danbooru, which the original incarnation of the site was based on, is open source, however Arc and kem have made some heavy modifications to parts of it to suit our needs, and our particular flavour is not.

Well guess what, THAT JUST HAPPENED. Yes that's right, now if you DON'T POST SHIT ON OUR SITE, you get the ability to post MORE NONSHITS IN AN EVER INCREASING FASHION!

How it works: All accounts now recieve a modifier to their base post limit. Each time a post is approved, modifier goes up. Each time a post is deleted, modifier goes down. There's also some extra maths I won't bore you with that rewards frequent posters as well, so that if you post regularly, a few deletions here and there will not adversely affect your modifier in any meaningful way. On the flipside, you also don't want to see what happens if you're one of those guys who post like 8 images ever, 7 of which get deleted before they're even out of the queue. It's not pretty.

It's been requested before, and hey, we do what we can. So to all you folks who upload tons of high quality content, enjoy your expanded account power. We salute you!

That's cool, and helps everyone. Can't think of something for anyone to complain about, unless they don't like a particular uploader or something, but that's their problem.
