Topic: A Morbid Reform

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

It has come to my attention that our death-related tags are in a severe state of disarray at the moment. I propose that we implement the following changes in order to straighten things out:

Definition Changes

The "* :" tag should only be added if an image describes ": *"

  • dying : a living being that is not yet dead but soon will be. This includes both the mortally wounded and the terminally ill.
  • death : a living being that is currently passing or has just recently passed on.
    • Should not imply corpse, as death can be implied without the body being seen.
  • corpse : a mostly-intact (that is, not just an individual part like a hand or head), no-longer-living being. This excludes the remains of inanimates like normal plants and fungi.
    • Should not be used to describe reanimated corpses; undead and its subspecies are to be used for that.
Structural Changes

=> : aliases to, +> : implies

Category Changes

Each listed tag's type should be converted from general to species.

What do you guys think?

All the suggested changes look good to me. Do something with zombie pony while you're at it. I'd suggest aliasing it away.

Technically, a ghost is not a reanimated corpse, so it can't be "undead" because it's, y'know, still dead.

Wikipedia says:

The term undead describes beings in mythology, legend or fiction that are deceased yet behave as if alive. A common example is a corpse re-animated by supernatural forces by the application of the deceased's own life force or that of another being (such as a demon). Undead may be incorporeal like ghosts, or corporeal like vampires and zombies. The undead are featured in the belief systems of most cultures, and appear in many works of fantasy and horror fiction.

They are undead, every D&D Book treats them as undead, every religion treats them as undead and so do most other people/games/stories/authors etc. etc.

And surprisingly, a reanimated corpse, nothing more than a golem with or without a soul trapped inside is still dead.
