To a degree. When it comes to art, if you're a fan of art, one tends to pick up information just through osmosis. Even the most novice can figure out that pencil sketches generally happen before inks. Now maybe you've never drawn a thing in your life, but if you see someone trying to do a smooth linework that didn't start as a sketch first, that's obviously legitimate criticism.
People who straight up hate art (and they do exist) clearly have no place making criticism because they have no basis to make it on. You'd almost never see this kind of people on an art community, though.

Bottom line is when you're making criticism, intelligence and clarity are your most useful tools. This can come from first hand experience or familiarity with the subject matter. Most importantly though, while most criticism is valid, none can be deemed 'correct'.

Well said. Comments like these make me wish for a +1 button on the forums.

I know it isn't e621 specific, but I hate it when people refer to an anus as a "pucker". That word just groses me out for some reason. A total turn off IMO.

murr murr murr

Comments with the word murr, or mentioning the word murr over and over in one comment. Anything with murr in it that isnt making a joke about the word "murr"

Well, when you pucker your lips, it looks remarkably like an asshole, so. I understand where you're coming from, though.

I take offense to this because I enjoy gore/snuff.

A sound of happiness/contentment used by furries. A made-up 'animal noise' word along the same lines as yiff that probably came from the word 'purr.'

Yeah, i kinda have. I've moved on from that, my apologies for all of that ruckus

Has anyone mentioned people who can't just blacklist and fuck off? Instead, they make a big deal out of it about how it's gross and blah blah blah.

On the other end are delusional artists who, when even constructive criticism, fire back with "How would you know, you don't draw!" I don't lay bricks either, but I know a shitty job when I see one!

Anything with yiff, murr, or someone trying to convince me they're a dragon or something.

And when people whine about having their characters drawn. I hate seeing entries in my favorites dissapear thanks to someone getting the opposite of flattered.

Smart man. I wish I had done something to that extent sooner. I just didn't know.

Irrelevant comments about imminent gore or vore, especially on cute or romantic images. I'm pretty sure that some users do that just to troll, but as far as I can see, there's no specific rule against it.

Oh god, this.
I'm sorry, but you're not a dragon (not you Tangent, just random person trying to claim they're a dragon).
No one is a dragon, not even a dragon trapped in a human body like some furries think they are.
If you want to think you're a wolf, or a bear in a human body, whatever, I disagree, but you do your own thing.
Dragons however don't exist.
It would be like me going around telling people that I'm really Princess Celestia just in human form.
Or Alf, know what, that can be my "fursona" that represents my true animal nature trapped in a human body, Alf. I'll just go eat a cat now.

That was deeply humorous.

This thread makes me happy.

When anyone makes a bone joke on a post with a picture of a canine with an erection.

Updated by anonymous

Page 1 has the most true one for me: "fix x tag!" ...why don't you? Button's right there. Or, "gross!" Blacklist... Then, there's my favorite peeve, insulting art without specific feedback. "Crap!" "U fail," "MSPaint fail"... I've done this ONCE, I'll admit, but only because that literally was what's wrong with it. Looked like it was mouse-drawn in paint in a hurry. By a mouse. A blind mouse.

When people decide to complain about the characters in posts despite it being quite irrelevant to what is happening in said post. Or people saying how things "Should" be happening in a post just because they think its better. You know shit like that...

When people shit all over artists just because it's not their individual cup of gravy.

Among my internet man points was the time I watched 2 girls 1 cup while eating chocolate ice cream. I won't say I wasn't phased, but I did finish it by the end of the clip.

It's more fun when you do it with Rocky Road. Or have a thin chocolate milkshake when someone decides to show you Tub Girl.

Dat necro

Not their's though. This was bumped yesterday by a leppeper alt which has already been blocked. The actual post that necro'd this was hidden though so most people wouldn't even know it was there. (possibly even by leppeper themselves as a way to troll, or maybe by an admin because of the slurs in it.). But either way, Catachan isn't the reason it got necro'd. (For what it's worth.)

Updated by anonymous

As long as it has been bumped, I might as well put in my two cents.

I don't like it when someone says or implies "This should have been X".

As in, "This would be better if it was a female rather than a herm" or something like that.

Which is weird because I don't have a problem with the message of "I would like this if it was X".

As in "Oh, this is really well done. If it was a female rather than a herm, I'd really find it sexy!"

I guess it's a matter of attitude. The former attitude is "my tastes are how things SHOULD be", while the latter is more "this isn't in line with my tastes, but very well done regardless".

Probably a side effect of informal language, not everybody is as verbose in their comments. To me it kind of says "Damn, this is really good but I just can't get into the cock, ya know? I wish this was female so I could add it to my collection." or something similar.

On the other hand, it does bug me when people shorten it to something like "Should've been dickgirl" because it kind of reads to me more like they are tsk tsking "Such a pity...you've gone and ruined it.", which probably sounds a lot more regrettable in my own head than it does in text.

These are the kinds of things I think about when I'm waiting for the bus and my phone's battery is at 2%.

"Dat ass" and "Dem tits" I see one of these at least once in pics of tits-focused or ass-focused pics. Though I've never seen anyone say "Dose"

Any comment that brings up the "artist doesn't like free advertisement" argument when a DNP comes around, and the bandwagon that follows.

In the same vein, people who say "lol downloaded already." Whether they're keeping it for a spank bank, or just letting it collect dust til they decide to upload it later, I still think they're complete losers

"(?s).*" , basically.

With exceptions for informative or competently humorous comments.

Some people just feel like they're entitled to everything.

My least favorite comment is the one where I say "fuck they ruined this picture 'cause it isn't anatomically_correct enough for me and I can't enjoy it" And I hover the comment box shaking with rage and verve. Eventually I post something constructive or nice. So my least fav E621 comment is people saying "this is literally the best picture ever" to some specific pics involving maybe a "dying scrawl upon the wall" to "I would use my second wish from a genie to make this piece d'art available for all to see across the world." This might be one of those comments I regret later, but if anyone reads it before it rightfully fades away, I question if " wouldn't it be nice if I could bond with the parts of this community that wants to be honest about if maybe I don't want human dicks on this particular pic or vice/versa.

Is it that I should be so thankful for people donating what is rightly bravely their ideas and their time and hard work to bring this stuff out into the world; I would just sometimes like to say "fuck this I don't like it." written and posted by Paris Hilton. Edited by Stormy Daniels.

This thread has been necro'd four times over the last six years, and each time some one would bring it up and the thread gets more "typical e621 comments that you hate". Just let it run its course, we'll probably be back here again in a year or two when it gets necro'd again after the activity dies down.
