Topic: change 'edit' to artist tag

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

I propose changing the tag "edit" to an artist tag, so it's easier to spot if an image is an edit and discern them from works that are sanctioned by the artist.

-1, giving the tag a tag type which is specifically reserved for artists' nicknames so it will be "easier to spot" doesn't really make sense to me, especially considering there's not even any current tag in place to discern sanctioned edits from unsanctioned ones.

Tag:
edit
Narse
name

For those who don't know who Narse is nor the name of who did the edit, you might come to an indication that Narse did the edit wheeras the person with the name tag did it.

Credit the original artist's artwork regardless of any editing. |~Some mod

It would be ridiculous and impossible to enforce a tag dedicated to saying whether or not an edit is sanctioned. Safer to assume everything is unsanctioned and not worry about it.

Edits (without the artists' permission) are bad, and people should feel bad about them

Nah. This is the Internet, not a social club: If somebody gets so pissed off about unauthorized edits to publicly-available artwork that aren't even hosted proximally to the original art, we're better off without their contributions, no matter the quality or originality.

Plagiarism and lack of attribution are bad: Alteration and experimentation are good.

I have an idea though, how about we make invalid_tag a species tag so that it stands out in the tag list, or an artist tag and make it the most hated artist tag there is

Just make a new tag type that blinks so it's incredibly annoying, inducing almost anyone to quickly fix the situation. And it's easy to pimp-smack somebody who just removes it without doing anything, I presume.

No reason for this; invalid_tag is periodically mass-deleted.

That's exactly the point; to make it more visible on posts to remind me or others to do it

I don't think we need a glaring color tag visible to everyone just to remind admins of administrative functions. That's silly.
