Is there any reason to make a distinction between paper_mario and the_thousand_year_door?

Most of the characters only appear in a single game. The main exceptions are Mario, Luigi, Bowser and Princess Peach.

So I suppose it's possible (likely even) that someone would want to search for a specific game, instead of the whole series. Though I'm not sure if that's enough to tag them separately. Especially when super_paper_mario is already aliased to paper_mario, and those two don't have much in common. Except for the artstyle.

the same could also go towards the 3rd game, super_paper_mario and some of it's characters as well.

if that "mini_yoshi" tag is aimed at the young yoshi mario hatches at the glitz pit battle arena then shouldn't it be gonzales_jr. (called so due to being mario er...the great gonzales' partner)? true, like most characters (partner ones i think), you could rename him but i think that was the default name.

in regards to the 3rd game, the name green_thunder (the_green_thunder?) should probably be aliased to luigi as it's the same guy just he has a bit of a mental problem where he turns into a villain...sometimes. (made a real wimpy...nevermind ^.^; spoilers and all :P)

edit: come to think of it, was there a 4th game in this series i might've missed due to lack of owning the wii u or something? i stopped getting actual consoles (have resumed buying games for them lately however) at ps2/xbox360/wii so i'm not all that "in the loop" on newer stuff.

The Yoshi kid has no default name, his field starts blank when you name him. I too used to think it was probably Gonzales Jr, if anything, but then Nintendo dubbed him Mini Yoshi in Smash 4's trophies, which sounds fairly lame but probably wasn't meant as a name more than being a description. So he really has no name besides what you decide to give him.

Honestly aliasing TTYD to Paper Mario is fine, since they basically have the same engine, only TTYD has Paperform Curses, similar to how Sticker Star has interesting effects that are only possible by making fun of the fact the world is paper.

Super Paper Mario is the only one I feel should actually not be aliased, since it has a completely different engine. The entire world is 2-dimensional, not just characters, and the Third Dimension is a magical superpower.

As for Mini Yoshi, I admit I would often name him Gonzales or Gonzales Jr just for the fun of it, but official names are better for use. While "Mini Yoshi" doesn't seem much like a name, it is what he's officially referred to by.

I did this one yesterday (and a few others), but there were only a few posts on them anyways. I wouldn't be against implicating it instead but I'd like to be sure of it being distinct. There's just hundreds of games to chose from and the implications become problematic when the characters appear in multiple/subsequent semi-related games (only a couple dozen tags here though, fortunately). Having 3-4 copyright tags for a single franchise because of overly specific game names (mario_kart_8 -> mario_kart -> mario_bros -> nintendo) seems kind of excessive to me.

It also doesn't help that the art style tends to be the artist's rather than the game's. :/

Not surprising, since there aren't many 'furry' characters in Super Paper Mario. I can't think of any besides Francis ...and Bowser, of course.

Yep. Paper Mario: Sticker Star. And I wouldn't recommend playing it, at least not if you liked the previous Paper Mario games.

They simplified it a lot: no party members, no stats, no equipment, etc. Barely any dialogue. From what I heard, most folks were disappointed by it.

that's a shame. the first 3 were pretty fun. aside from those infernal 100 floor dungeons they put in the games. i was never patient enough to reach shadoo or that dragon boss. 100 floor dungeons get rather tedious when you've been hanging out in them after a while.

Definitely take a look at ICU Gigasoft, you'll likely love what you find. Except for the Tower of Infinite Trials, but that one doesn't come with that bonus reachable goal, being infinite and all.
