Thank you all for your kind words, though it was pure luck that the millionth post fell to me. Honestly, I expected the admins would prepare something special for it. Or that the site would crash under load.

Several people wondered how long it will take to reach 2 million. Well, I've looked into that. I've noticed that the number of posts has been rising almost exponentially since post #500000 or so. So I put the recent milestones into an Excel table and let it calculate the trend line equation. You can see the result here:

According to the equation, we should have post #2000000 1657 days after Jun 1, 2014, or roughly in January 2019.

Posts 1-12 did exist, they were just simply destroyed and stricken from the archive. According to an older admin they were random cat images used as tests.

The only way it could be determined on which post will be the legit 1m'th post, is to figure out the EXACT amount of posts on this site. It's probably easy to find, really. I'd say this is maybe around the 800,000th or 850,000th picture that has been uploaded and was never deleted, but it could be higher or lower, not exactly sure.

It depends on how you define "true", it is the post with ID 1,000,000. However it is the 999,988th "real" post, as the first 12 are destroyed (i.e. more than deleted) and were apparently just test images, so the 1,000,000th post would be post #1000012. Additionally there are 6,616 destroyed posts in total which would mean this is post >= 993,384 in the database, additionally there are 135,824 deleted or destroyed posts before this one which currently makes it active post 857,560.
