Technically you could get either one in either game by changing your 3ds clock by 12 hours.

No, you can't. They're version exclusive. While we don't know if Moon is actually offset by twelve hours (I'll be playing during the "Day" if it is, since my free time is at night), the Sun/Moon forms are actually exclusives.

  • out of curiosity, is there an actual source on the whole "yes you can/no you can't" for getting both lycanroc in 1 game? Figured I'd ask since I haven't seen any proof to support either side of the argument.

2nd question...where exactly was that trainer petting lycanroc to get THAT much of a reaction? or is it moreso where lycanroc wants the trainer to pet? :P

The description for both forms on the official website says that it was affected by the versions legendary pokemon so since the legendaries are version exclusive I think the evolutions are exclusive as well.

  • The only way you can get both in one game is by trading with someone from the game opposite of yours who already has a Lycanroc of that specific version.

  • And here I was hoping we'd finally get a Pokemon that changed forms based on the time of the day you play the games. :(

No, you can get both in the same game without trading. You just have to catch a Lycanroc while it's sunny out in Moon or while it's dark out in sun.

Actually no, I have moon and I leveled Rockruff passed the evolution threshold during the day, it will only evolve into the version exclusive midnight form in Moon at night.

I actually have both. I play one, and my sister plays the other. It seems that they run at exact opposite times.

Vast Poni Canyon, you can catch Lycanroc. If it's sunny out, you can catch the midday in moon, or the midnight in sun if it's night. They're obtainable. Just not very easily if you're looking at it competitively.

  • I don't know why they call them "forms" if they essentially don't actually change in game and may as well be completely different poke'mon because of that.

In terms of finding a wild lycanroc yes they are exclusive, but you can still get a rock ruff to evolve into either

If I could have any pokemon at all in real life, midnight Lycanroc would be the one.

To be honest, I would get a Rockruff. Then evolve it to midnight. So now I get my two favorites!

Did some digging around and apparently both forms were able to be found in the canyon even before ultra. Seems kind of bogus considering they were meant to be version exclusives.

Yeah, you can get both at the canyon. Also why would you WANT them to be version exclusive?

From serebii: "Lycanroc's Forms are set upon evolution and unable to switch between them. They are set by the version of game on which you are playing. You can catch the other form in the wild during its corresponding time of day"
I was technically correct, based on evolving, though you CAN catch the other.

Are we gonna just ignore the fact that the artist is markipliers brother?

And most of us love that fact very much.

On that note, did anyone else get the impression that Mark's smash/pass video was pressured? Or like part of a bet/agreement? He just really seemed like he'd rather be doing literally anything else throughout.

although the anime canon is during full moons or when consumed by rage, they become deadly dark-red beasts.
    so yeah, itยดs a mess.
not the kind theyยดre about to make...
but a mess none the less.

I'm really glad I chose to get Moon.

    Also, Tom's knows what's up.

*seeing this comment* oh yeah, I remember playing Pokรฉmon Moon when it first came out. That was kinda recent right?
