Mokusatsu - 黙殺
Literally meaning "kill" with "silence", and is used with a verb marker idiomatically to mean "ignore", "take no notice of" or "treat with silent contempt". It is composed of two kanji characters: 黙 (moku "silence") and 殺 (satsu "killing").

  • For those interested, a Yūrei is a spirit with an unfulfilled desire in life that makes them come back to the physical world to fulfill this desire. Usually it is one of vengeance.

  • The thing about badasses is that they have no need to make themselves appear to be badass. The author's applied to this well with Nick.

No intimidating clothing, no posturing, no threats. Nothing personal going on. Nick's a professional in the field of violence, and he's very good at his work. Nothing's allowed to interfere with that, in his world.

The tiger, OTOH, is played as just enough of Nick's opposite in this regard. He isn't a parody, like a bad supervillain, but his threats and attempts at intimidation are allowed to undermine his mission. Doesn't hurt that the tigger fails to recognize another professional at work, either, and lost his bounce. ;)

  • I spy a little insignia on that baton!

See I actually wasn't sure what that was but I assume it was a concealed weapon -a baton- that Nick was carrying.
